People are abusing the automated report system to get anyone banned. The issue is that if you unintentionally tilt too many people (simply by playing infamous heroes or killing someone repeatedly) you will get banned.

I got a 2 day comm ban after just telling someone they could get banned for pause abuse because they got ganked and decided to pause the game and flame my tema. If it's on me, I'll own up to it, but I just took the time to review my last five ranked matches up until I got comm banned.

EDIT: It seems Yoshi commented on fixing bans but I think he was referring to people that were permanently banned and not account restrictions.

Maybe it's worth looking into, dev side, but, personally speaking, are you sure you didn't just act toxic as hell and get banned for that reason? Maybe you're out of touch with how toxic you are, thinking what you're doing is okay when it's really not. Idk, worth considering at least.

Also this message predates comms bans (used to be you got full on permanent ban for being toxic, including hardware id ban) but is probably still applicable.

That said I completely agree with you and appreciate that the DEVs are doing their part in reporting toxicity (before it gets to a level as bad as LoL/Overwatch). I don’t mind waiting two days (ok I’m a bit sad), just worried that it will happen again.

The high threshold is not ideal for people that play a lot. A report percentage would make more sense statistically.

I'm not sure devs have access to voice comms. They might not be able to review the match comms but probably can review the actual reports.

I will say this: Reporting gets disabled if you use it too much/spam it. Maybe the system needs tweaking, maybe, but I kinda doubt people are spam reporting you. I play an annoying character too but haven't faced this issue... Likewise I have friends who play the game and don't have this issue.


I hope devs look into this, to see if anything odd is going on, more than possible, but from my perspective it doesn't seem like a common occurrence symptomatic of a large flaw in the reporting system. It looks like isolated cases, potentially correctly banned.

Glad to see this is happening. I still think statistically a report percentage makes more sense than total number of reports though.

I posted my last few match IDs. I played 20 ranked matches and probably 80+ unranked prior to the comm ban.

Any dev going to address this? I was able to play ranked for 2 days (9 games) and have not been able to play ranked since. 2 day ban into a 4 day ban first game after 2 day ban. This needs to be fixed asap. The report system is awful.

Is my first match after 2 day false comms restriction. I get the match I provided the ID for.
I was playing Lady Geist and queued with my girlfriend and my friend.
We had 2 other players calling me the n-word, Jew, telling me to kill myself, and talking about child porn. Also tried griefing the game because we didnt play the way they wanted to.
Then they report me and I am instantly banned again right after that match finished.
This needs to be fixed. The report system is easily abused.
Both times I received a comms ban I had said nothing in the game.
@Yoshi or any other dev needs to address this.

Update:
My ban expired and since then I played a few games of ranked and then immediately got another comms restriction. This is really disappointing because I did my best to only use the ping system.

There's a new commend system. Try to be really kind etc. I get a shit ton of commends in all of my games.

i've been affected by the same issue. escalating comms bans while i am actively avoiding using comms due to this exact fear.

I always knew that the automatic blocking system of Valve developers is terrible, but that would be so much... I was given much weaker teammates and I tried to explain to them how to win, but no one listened to me. As a result, I won this game with a score of 20/4 and at the end I see a lock for 4 DAYS, in the alpha game) The same situation was in CS2 when it was in beta testing, I played and tried to raise the rating and was better than my rivals and when I won, they threw me reports and gave me a vulture ban for 7 days, although I did not even use voice chat. I really don't want to play the game when you've been banned for 4 days and you won't be able to play rating mode and communicate with the team. Review the ban system, please

I think the automatic communication restriction should apply only during the game that you get reported, just like in Dota. Even if you were falsely reported, it's only for 1 game, but you gotta have atleast 3-4 people that dont like you to report you for that.

I played the game and won the game, there were English-speaking players for me who spoke fuck Russian. I spoke only English and helped to win, I didn't say a bad word, I didn't write anything in the chat. I was just spoiled because I'm Russian and I was banned for 7 days. Why did I get banned just because I'm Russian??? I didn't do anything wrong, I just want to play the game.
