Bad Matchmaking Thread

Hi,

I've recently noticed a huge jump in the difficulty of the matches my friend and I are playing in. We were recently having a lot of fun and challenging games, but in the last 2 days (roughly since when ranked was released - I don't know if that is relevant or not) we have been going into games where we are outclassed by leagues, by both team mates and enemies (and we felt bad as our team mates were evidently carrying us HARD). The teams we're on feel very fast paced, they're always so far ahead on souls, and absolutely smash us in the laning phase. It has felt like it's gone from a decent challenge on fair footing to just being completely steamrolled in each game, with us seeming like complete noobs comparative to the players we're in with.

2 match ID's below, the one ending 11 I left out of frustration at how un-equal it felt, as it seemed like it got to a point where I was just feeding the enemy team and would be better off out of the lobby. That is the only match I have abandoned so far, and the fun factor of the game has really gone down these last 2 days.

You're right, this is a normal game; statistically speaking. It's not the kind of game I enjoy though, and not the kind of "normal" players might expect. It wasn't a "stomp", more of a slog, but as this is the Bad Matchmaking Thread, not the "Total Stomp Thread", I posted it here because it was a Bad Match because the MMR was Bad and the purpose of the Bad Matchmaking Thread is to highlight games where the Matchmaking was Bad.

Then on top of it all, there's people that complain about other people posting Bad Matches in the Bad Matchmaking Thread because the Bad Match they posted about wasn't a Total Stomp; however, they are being obtuse because the Total Stomp Thread doesn't exist, only the Bad Matchmaking Thread where Bad Matches are posted because it's the Bad Matchmaking Thread not the Total Stomp Thread and the purpose of the Bad Matchmaking Thread is to help make MMR better so people post matches where the MMR was bad hence the name Bad Matchmaking Thread.

I was more referring to your comments about the haze. As for it being a slog, that I think is exactly what most games should be, it's not supposed to be easy to win, it should be difficult, and if a game is a slog, that just means there were tons of instances where the other team could have done a couple things differently to turn it around. That to me is proper matchmaking.

Just losing isn't bad matchmaking.

It was a solo lane and seven was behind by 1.5k by the time I had my ulti. He didn't deny at all, and let me deny almost everything. (Tangential, I think the deny tracker is wrong. I denied three entire creep waves which alone is more than 11 souls.) I then got ganked multiple times but they couldn't do anything to stop me.

I'm sorry, this feels like a brag, but I genuinely felt bad for the Seven, I've been on the other side and it sucks. It isn't fun.

I should not have been put into a solo lane against this bebop. They are a far better shot than me, their reaction time is simply superior to my own and I can't improve that, their ability to control a lane is far superior to my own.
Matchmaking keeps doing this to me and I can't improve my own skills as a laner (especially when I keep getting forced into solo lanes which are significantly more difficult than partner lanes) because so many of my matches have such a large skill gap that I don't have the flexibility or time to improve in any meaningful way. My walker was dead at 6 minutes.

    I felt good at 2300 Valve Score, but then I suddenly started throwing at 1700 Valve Score, and there I clearly understand that my teammates and opponents are below my level of play, but each match lowers me. But even victories only lower me.

bebop performed so poorly that i got into a fight with my judgement that if the player was a human,i got so serious about it that i checked my first ever game as comparison, in that game i was a wraith; i died 30% less had 33% more kill participation and dealt 66% more damage(i play from middle east in eu servers with a wifi and 90 ping compared to this player connecting probably from eu)
i am dead serious,im asking myself if ai can login into steam and play games instead of you(im a huge enthusiast of ai and machine learning)and there is a whole another question popping into my mind which is future possible ai mmr boosting ...

This was not balanced at all, mainly because on the other team Ivy was the only one with a rank title.
Me, as Bebop, kept just sticking bombs and hooking around, it didnt feel fair for the other team which didn't have enough experience to know how to counter my team's builds, btw not a 5-stack, solo queue.

games in general very one way, yesteray games were bad but "close" (kind of), today we just stomped them without any chances, i know this necoscore is made up, but valve match rating isnt and it kind of correlates with how unbalanced games are. I was playing in mid 1700-1800s before there were some bad lose streaks too, but last games are just like against bots.

Match 24474885 - Time 47:51 - Victory Team 5k Lead - Sapphire team, other than Infernus and Paradox, didn't do squat for object damage. Two other games (24469567, 24461755) like this today were the team didn't push objective they just went for kill after kill and die chasing them. Why all of a sudden am I getting matched up with players who do not understand the game and chase kills and are not pushing the thing that wins games, Objectives.

In the example here, I took 3 Guardians, 4 Walkers, 2 or 3 sets of Base Guardians, 2 Shrines, the Patron to weaken, and half of the weaken patron life. Please make objective damage mean more for the mmr and match players with other players who push objectives. Yes, I know some characters are built for different tasks, but everyone should be able to end a game with 8k obj damage with everything down. Amber Team did for 4 out of 6 players.

RANKED: OOF these last couple were bad. Got to be some useful subtleties you can pick up on by reviewing these.

My team essentially didn't know how the objectives worked mostly and were ignorant to pings / callouts, while conversely the enemies were EXTREMELY coordinated and appeared far more mechanically skilled. I was definitely outmatched by the Shiv I laned against although I managed to cheese just enough to keep from dying, but he was able to escape from my kill because he was consistently on a higher mechanical level even if I out maneuvered him in a few cases with Infuser. Eventually I had to give up lane because tanks are busted.

Rest of the match was a total mess, you can see that at best we had a Lady Geist on par with enemy team, and the only "bad" player the enemies had from observing their gameplay was the Ivy. The souls lead may not have made the imbalance super apparent, but the fights 100% did. Our Mirage and Haze certainly had no business being in the match.

TBH the Dynamo and Yamato on my team should never have been in this lobby, enemies were clearly more skilled all around when it came to quickly and efficiently responding to objectives, urns, team fight mechanics etc.

I cannot link any specific games, but I can attest to the general feel that games have become strangely one-sided most of the time. Currently most of my games have on average about 3-4 decent players, and the rest feel like they barely touched the game. Its not that fun to stomp newbies all the time and make them leave their lane at least 0-5. This happened right after everybody got their rankings, too, so I wonder if that had an effect.
