Bad Matchmaking Thread

47380394 - Any comments on filtering the bots out of the matchmaking to make the game more balanced? @Valve atleast please make a surrender option that was 42 minutes of torture with the enemy team just drawing it out because they were fed.... just read the chat logs since I know you care so much about the community -_-

I think roughly 1 or 2 out of my last 25 games have felt like it wasn't stomped by a smurf or a cheater on either side.

Maybe you guys should like, consider *not* allowing high skill range parties? Because it's absolutely miserable and it's the cause of roughly 100% of the bad games. I would seriously rather wait 30m for a fun match than play an awful one that's over in 20m.

I've literally dropped like 8 ranks due to these losses in the past month and yet, it persists.
Valve don't care. CS2 is filled with cheaters and smurfs as well.

I’m not sure whether this is intentional or not, but at this point it feels obvious to me that the system deliberately switches you between good and bad matchmaking pools — or maybe it cycles between selecting weaker players either for your team or against you. I’m constantly stuck in either a long win streak or a longer losing streak, rarely different thing in between, down already from Archon IV to Emis. IV!!! in a week or so...some of my games similar to this one i have already posted in my previous comment...

And:
Here’s the little social experiment I tried (and apologies to anyone who had to suffer because of it):
Game ID: 47384959

I literally walked around the map the entire match. I didn’t hit a single enemy, didn’t push lanes, didn’t take objectives, didn’t buy any of my items, and I didn’t even last-hit. And guess what:

By the end of the game, look at my net worth. It was actually higher than green players. I mean i could just get bots that avoid fights and last hits and the outcome would be the same, how matchmaker can fail so HARD!!! not once not twice but many many many times IN A ROW!!!

How is anyone supposed to win with teammates like this? And I’m getting 3–4 games like this in a row — sometimes even 7–8 back-to-back!!!

You may say that this happened because my team was 5 vs 6, true! but, what if i tell you that my green lane was already 1-7 by min 10 or 12 without anyone from our or enemy team rotating to their lane!!!

Anyway I’m done. This isn’t healthy, speculation is all i can do which is really a waste of my time...
I’m glad I stopped spending a single dime on this sadistic company. If I’m right about what’s going on, I really do hope karma eventually catches up with them.

consistently bad matches for few weeks now. Got 1 or 2 good game with balanced team, and 10-20 matches with skewed matchmaking. No matter how good i play, will always lose due to unbalanced matchmaking. It gotten worse for this month.

Another day, another smurf.

5 day old deadlock profile, plays like a god.
I hope valve does its data magic and bans hardware of everyones main to the point they have to get a new GPU and motherboard just to play any valve game online.

Use this thread to share matchids for games that you think the matchmaker did a bad job at. If you can explain what you felt was a problem in it that would be helpful as well.

Do not post matchids for games that were within the past 24 hours from this post. Games older than that are fine and games going forward are fine.

Thanks for the help" Hey Yoshi i love your game, and I'm knew to moba style gameplay and I'm not great the fps genre but I'm pretty passionate about deadlock because I think with enough time it's well rounded enough for alot of different gamers to find and entry point and get better.
Matchmaking makes it almost impossible to solo-queue. You get teams of Alchemists vs full teams of Ritualists, or a stacked group of Orcal players against randoms. Here are three examples, but the pattern is the same: you’re being thrown into lopsided matches.

Losing to a better team is fine — that’s part of PvP — but should a Seeker 4 player really lose rank because they got matched against a coordinated team of high-ranked Orcal players? The implementation feels lazy at best.

If longer queue times are required for proper matching, then use longer queues. Balance the win/loss penalties so players aren’t punished for matches they realistically cannot win.

Facing better players occasionally is good; it shows you what you still have to improve. But when it’s constant — when it takes 4–5 wins to gain one rank, and only 1–2 losses (against opponents 4–5 ranks higher) to lose that same rank — you’re actively driving away potential long-term players.

Yes, losing is part of PvP, but players also need winnable games and the space to learn. Right now the system is built to fail, and it will shrink the playerbase over time. If that’s the goal, then this matchmaking is absolutely on track.

Hi Yoshi, once again you're having problems with matchmaking. As I wrote in a post a few days ago, you need to change the way you rate players' matches. You need to take the stats of all players in the lobby as a reference and rate them based on their performance. It's impossible to eliminate smurfs, trolls, etc. from a video game. Everyone's tried and failed. You need to change how players are evaluated and make this type of behavior unprofitable. Instead of simply banning, they should be placed on special lists (a bit like shadowbanning):
If a smurf rises quickly and is placed immediately after less than 10 matches with his peers (this also eliminates false positives).
If he's trolling or griefing: he should be placed with his peers without warning and without questions. To eliminate false positives, just look at the overall metrics compared to other players (anyone can have a bad match, especially against a smurf or cheater). You have the match analysis and statistics, use them.

lost with 33% soul difference 47027086
lost with 38% soul difference 47144745
lost with 47% soul difference 47450960
lost with 45% soul difference 47453483

It's getting worse by the day.
Freeing up 37 GB disk space never felt so attractive.
