Bad Matchmaking Thread

I don't understand how a game with eternus and ascendant players should cause me to derank if lost??? granted other than that it was a fine and balanced game. im not salty I lost or got into the lobby I played well but I don't understand why it would make me derank when there's eternus players on the other team and oracle players on mine.
 
After the rework of the ranked mode, it became impossible to play. Since the 23rd, out of 18 matches, only 4 wins. I doubt that my level of play has dropped sharply, because I still take 1-3 places in the overall stats .For me, the separation of ranked and normal mode was much better.1732601642856.png1732601652112.png
 
Another one for your sample of data to use for your next experiment where it'll be just as bad as the current one if not worse whenever an adjustment comes out.

2 weeks ago I played four ranked calibration matches, which (at least according to deadlock tracker) were Oracle 3 (win), Phantom 3 (win), Phantom 4 (loss), Oracle 6 (loss). This aligned well with the rank of my matches pretty much since I started playing like 3 months ago, over my 200+ matches. However, I didn't play enough to calibrate. Now, since the most recent matchmaking patch, I figured I'd play a few and get placed and was placed at Emissary 6. Since then I've gone 10-2 with the following KDA's.

My best guess at what happened is that roughly a week before the update I played only a few matches and with some lower rank friends (one somewhere in arcanist, the other in archon) and lost a few. If my rank is based on the previous week only I suppose I could see how this happened. For some more context, according to deadlock tracker I'm 1722 ELO, top 1% of players, and top 2% lash, my match history is almost exclusively oracle and phantom except for when playing with lower rank friends. Regardless, I'm stomping pretty much every game now and people in my matches are complaining about balancing because of it. I was hoping that I'd climb fast or get caught by some sort of smurf detection but it took 8 consecutive wins to rank up once to Archon 1 and I’m still like 11 ranks away from what I normally play at. I have exactly the same situation, I had a calibrated rank of phantom 2, after calibration I did not update my rank because there were a lot of cheaters in rating matches and I often played in a party with friends, which did not allow me to enter the rating and also often played with friends of low ranks, after the update I was given the rank of archon 5 and at the same time the system does not allow me to raise my rank, since to increase I need 5 wins in a row, which I found out in practice and it is not so easy to do even at a different rank, I also asked other players in matches how many they win to increase and they tell me that even if they lose, they can be promoted, they can also be promoted from three wins in a row and based on the information I collected, there is a possibility that players playing with other players in the lobby whose rank is much lower, while they themselves are not calibrated, it greatly breaks their rating calculation even in solo games this problem does not go away, after the patch I played a lot solo and in a party with a rank higher than mine and 4 wins in a row with good results were not enough, I was thrown into the lobby 7 ranks higher than mine but this did not help me to raise the rank, since not the definition of the rank itself is broken but also the calculation for increasing the rank, since I recently won 9 matches in a row with high results in most of them and received only one promotion, despite the fact that to decrease I only need to lose two matches. https://tracklock.gg/players/893784204, 1732605495661.png

An absolute stomp. Strong suspicion that again, as a duo, we were up against a 5 or 6 stack.
Can you like, take away 4 and 5 stacks again and just keep it to solo, duo, trio and 6 stack?

4 and 5 stacks might as well be a full 6 stack against a team of duos and trios.

I have never experienced something like this before. Loaded into this match and my ping was insanely high, like 130+ the whole game. Then I noticed, that everyone was speaking Spanish and they were telling me I was on South American servers. I currently play NA servers and I live in California. I played through the whole game anyway just to find out at the end that it was an oracle match. I am ascendant 4 (deranked to ascendant 3 because of this loss). Very odd as to why I got put in a way lower-ranked and different servers match. Has this happened to anyone else before?? It seems as if at the time of this post (11:40 pm PST timezone, 11-25-2024) other people (on NA servers) in the deadlock discord general are also complaining due to this odd issue.

I've uninstalled Deadlock, gonna wait for the full release. Getting good games in OCE isn't possible anymore.

Early this patch was pretty good, maybe the higher player base on the weekend helped OCE. The weekdays though, it seems to be the worst its ever been.

Several games in a row where someone rage quits after dying 6+ times in the first few minutes. In a way, its better when they rage quit, since it lets you leave rather than spend half an hour dragging out an innevitable loss so that you don't get penalised.

I don't know what the intended game design is here, but currently it seems if 5/6 players are holding even, and one player absolutely tanks their lane, its game over. That super fed enemy just rotates and crushes you. Sometimes if you fight hard you can drag the game out, but as long as one or two of your team are just autopiloting into death over and over, the game is decided in the first couple of minutes.

I've tried to kindly ask these people why they keep dying over and over, and it seems to be a kind of angry COD mindset where you take a lot of deaths in exchange for hopefully getting a lot kills. That doesn't seem to happen in Mobas, but its definately the norm in a lot of mainstream shooters. Just chug a few beers, shoot some stuff and respawn as much as you need. That mindset doesn't seem to align with the amount of souls each death grants, so i wonder if there is someway of altering the souls on death to discourage players all feeding on the newbie.

All 6 opponent players had 10-12k while everyone on my team had 8k, while I got destroyed in lane by Geist with no help and no one willing to swap even though I had a bad matchup in lane.

The matchmaking is all broken and the rank even more so, I win all the matches with a very high KDA and I still haven't moved up in rank, I have 34 matches in the last 3 days, of the 34 I won 29 and I haven't moved up in rank, this new rank system is a disgrace.

yo, can you view the individual players per match like that? is it deadlock tracker?
