Why Are We Forced to Smurf? How Deadlock’s “Smart” Matchmaking Breeds the Problem It Claims to Solve

it's always the same song and dance. "i'm not shit at the game, it's the matchmaker keeping me down!"
have you read what the post is all about?

if matchmaking is only based on win/loss, that's a tried and tested system and its a skill issue

but if its based off "measured performance" that's very much a big issue inherent with that. If that divulges from winning substantially, you get bad matchmaking results.

why are you even responding to a post you haven't read.

What good nugget of feedback is there to get from "fuck you valve fix the matchmaker so i can climb (i will not improve)" repeated 500 times a day?

I'd hate to be a valve developer, having to deal with thousands of insane children screaming at me inane gibberish. I can have decades of experience coding, yet get called a vibe coding shitter by some Russian child who doesn't know what a file system is, all for the heinous crime of sharing something I asked the paid version of ChatGPT.
Dude you realize that people that should be initiate are oracle or higher and don't rank down?

Becouse he think he's better than us becouse he doesn't complain about the sistem, becouse he's a pro and he can rank up and we are just complaining bevouse we suck

This is crazy.

None of which changes the original and main point whatsoever, and only sorta reinforces it.

When you measure performance players will play for performance and not for wins.
Oh shit, that's cool. But it does make me question why it doesn't seem to be working. I am quite schnasty on the schmovement. I have a good KDA mostly every game. I have a good amount of denies in lane. I always slide after a dash. Maybe it's overly punishing on my meme builds?

New bug report: Being green with it is overly punished by the matchmaking algorithm. And also valve hates melee builds, which is pretty obvious if you read patch notes.

great post a lot of effort put devs will definetly read this the question is if they will actually try to fix the issue that is spread around valve games for years

i just reminded myself years ago like 10 probably there was a polish steamer(izak) doing unranked to globabl elite challenge in cs go he was trop frag in 90% of the games had a crazy insane win rate and all that and the game kept him in the lowest rank of the lowest tier for like 50 games for whatever reason and they guy just finished the challenge saying he gives up because it was taking 10's of games just to get a single rank up while consistently showing performance of a global elite player in each game for hundreds of games. Idk how cs2 matchmaking is now but people are still playing on faceit for a good reason. Heard dota2 also is suffering from all the issues cs go had and cs2 probably has nowadays.

Sometimes i get asked by friends to play some valorant with them so ofc i hop on a smurf account because there is no other way to queue up with them after like 15-20 games over the span of a year my smurf is just few ranks behind my main and i cannot queue with my friends anymore because the account is too high.
Ranked system in valorant is great IMO compared to league. Ofc u will get griefers cheaters ragequit etc but that's a part of life unfortunately.

I was waiting for this one. Let me ask you something: is it fair that low-skill players are forced to play against boosters and smurfs, because those fresh accounts get pooled directly into their matchmaking bracket? Have you read the post either?

Y'all,,, realize the game is in alpha, right? Not even beta. Half the stuff in this game literally doesn't work right now. Folks disconnect and crash all the time. Deadlock is currently just a project that they're letting a lot of us in on. Nobody's destroying anything. It's not that serious. It's not that deep.
That's exactly why it matters now, which is because the game is in alpha. This is the time to get the developers' attention on the problems with the matchmaking system they are currently building. They are actively tuning it and most likely feeding existing match data into their models, so that by the time of release they have a massive dataset ready to go. The patterns being baked in right now are the patterns that will ship

You missed the point entirely and you will forever be known as a meatriding chud for billionaires

Both my main and a fresh account have been paired with a mixture of as low as alchemist, sometimes seeker and initiate, all the way up to phantom-ascendant. Had a vindicta with an 88 percent winrate on my first match on the fresh account who was ascendant 4.

No I mean literally, he has a twitter, he posts about his vibe coding adventures and he tells us exactly which games he is working on, and he is the Deadlock guy, with some CS2. Yesterday he told us he was quite upset that other game devs think vibe coding is bad, because he finds it very useful.
Oh so that explains why the refund HUD broke a few months after Old God's release... They recently just patched it but still it's annoying dude.
