T3 Active Weapon - Mystic Catapult

Heavy Melee Cancel is a really cool mechanic, but I think it highlights a gap in the abilities players currently have access to.

I propose formally replacing HMC boosting with an active item, which when used, performs the same function.

Mystic Catapult: 3000 souls
Component: None or Melee Charge
Active ability: Launches the player in whatever direction they are looking.
Cooldown: Long enough that it can only be used once per fight until late game.

The velocity gained should be close to what could be archived with old HMC boosting. Slowing Hex should lock usage of this item. This would be useful as an alternative to warp stone.

Other than Dashing (and wall jumping), there is no (hero agnostic) way to violently gain or change your velocity during a fight. A formal implementation of this feature would allow for more proper testing, as it would be possible to balance it without needing to change other mechanisms. Eg. slows could reduce the velocity it gives you, and knock-ups/slowing hex could lock it. Perhaps it always gives the same horizontal velocity. Would Ability Reach give you more launching power? Should it scale with spirit? These things can't be experimented with when its just a weird interaction caused by two unrelated features.

I mean, I know that Warp Stone cancels all momentum, but it basically performs a lot of the same function as HMC did. The biggest thing about HMC over Warp Stone is that you could also use it to bait a parry.

Warp Stone doesn't give you any velocity, only resets it. If that's all you are after, a regular Heavy Melee can also do that. The appeal of HMC boosting is the directed speed it gives you.
