Render Error?

This issue is locking out users on Windows 7 from playing the game properly, which isn't easy to update from, as Microsoft has raised the technical requirements for Windows 11 a lot, and Windows 11 is also the only supported upgrade path, so a lot of people would need completely new CPUs and motherboards to upgrade.

Performance is apparently not an issue, but the textures are indeed broken, and that makes it pretty hard to enjoy the gameplay and setting of the game.

Workarounds like dxvk or -vulkan either don't run (see the error message in previous posts) or significantly impact framerate and lead to crashes.

It isn't a win 7 problem only, it happens on win 10 as well. Seem to be an old GPU issue that is realated with the drivers I think
It happens even with a new GPU like the 3060 Ti if you're on Windows 7, so it indeed seems related to drivers.
On newer Windows versions, you would probably experience the issue with an older GPU.

It's mostly for windows 7 for the version of Nvidia drivers that's 470.82 or higher:

It works with dxgi and d3d11 on windows 7
The rendersystemdx11.dll message is appearing on Win7 64-bit with a 3060 Ti when attempting to launch according to these instructions. The driver version is 474.11, the newest WHQL-signed driver on Win7, and well within the "minimum requirements" for vulkan 1.1 needed by the legacy dxvk. d3d11.dll and dxgi.dll from the dxvk download were used, as per instructions.

Are you sure you didn't just set the -vulkan flag in startup options, and this dxvk stuff is entirely placebo?

It works for me and i'm on -dx11. like i said -vulkan crashes. d3d11.dll and dxgi.dll (that translates vulkan to DX11) doesn't crashes
The rendersystemdx11.dll error can also be due to other things like hardware, reshade or Microsoft Visual C++:

A DXVK contributor says that it is the anti-cheat, and so you're clearly leaving out information.

EDIT: So does the DXVK creator.

I never got really anything from anti-cheat except one error in game that i already reported.
Just pasting d3d11.dll and dxgi.dll was that simple for me and the still online worked.
Try the "run as admin" workaround, it was (or is?) a problem for anyone playing CSGO2 in windows 7 early on, one old post on the workaround i could find:
The admin workaround for newer valve games was alreadly known and discovered last year when CSGO2 was released.

Also there were just linking to the wiki, on what was reported before

You're probably running out of VRAM, as Source 2 behaves strangely when its is running low. Considering optimization hasn't been really done yet, this probably won't get fixed in the near future. This could also explain why the start map ran fine for you, as it likely loads next to nothing into VRAM.

This appears to be the missing link. In my own testing on my Win11 machine that didn't have issues, this lets me run the game with the latest DXVK 2.4 without an error. It seems to reduce my Sandbox FPS from 190 to 130, which seems to state that it is, in fact, changing something.

I'll have my Win7 friend affected by the issue in this thread test as well.

It appears to be a success.

Using the dxvk async version seems to improve performance:

dxvk-async 1.10.3
  • Put dxgi.dll and d3d11.dll in the game folder
  • Set project8.exe to "Run as Administrator" in its right-click properties (this lets you launch it through Steam)
  • Create a file "dxvk.conf" and enter the line: "dxvk.enableAsync = true" (without the "s), save it
  • Go into the Sandbox and use each ability on each hero to compile and pre-cache the shaders
Caveat: It is unknown whether Valve's anti-cheat might detect and ban you for it at some point. DXVK creator advises care when using it with online games.

Yeah, the CSGO2 admin workaround worked for me last year and was still needed still (far i can tell) for few times i launched game. Wasn't sure if it was still important or needed now beforehand.
I just launched any S2 vavle game in admin by default after CSGO2 at that point.

It appears to be a success.

I'd just forgot about dxvk-async; I just copied dxgi.dll and d3d11.dll from another game folder that need it as well.
Can confirmed the first two are the minimum, the game will just be "laggy with a few half-sec freezes" as i reported before.
  1. Put dxgi.dll and d3d11.dll in the game folder
  2. Set project8.exe to "Run as Administrator" in its right-click properties (this lets you launch it through Steam)

For this time I have no more disk space for this game,I'll reinstall until this issue is fixed, the post won't update for a while.

Это проблема, которая присутствует на слабых видеокартах.
