Refund 🔄

Allows you to sell all your items at their original purchase price at any point during the match. Ideal for restarting your build from scratch. Can only be used once per game.
PRICE : 1600 .

Imagine late game, where everyone has a spirit resist builds, and Yamato switches from spirit to gun 💀
That’s even more reason for the item to be cheap, so your teammates can buy it too if that situation comes up and they can actually fight back against the enemy.

Could understand a 75 or 60% refund, full refund is too much however and only sounds fun in theory.
The problem is that you'd lose a lot of souls when selling the items. Still, remember that this item is single-use and anyone can buy it. I think that if you made a perfect build, you just wouldn't buy it .

I like the idea, single use makes it more balanced but the biggest issue I see with the item is that the first one to use it always loses it.
If you play spirit and the enemy builds spirit resist and you switch to gun after that, then they get advantage by being able to switch to gun resist after that.
You could say in that situation the enemy gets less value out of the item since they sell less than you which is remaking the entire build

Actually, I think that if you're putting a lot of pressure on the enemy with your build, they’ll be the ones who want to change their build first. I believe it would come down to who applies more pressure in the match from the start.
Also, you're mostly talking about a 1v1 situation . let's not forget this is a 6v6 game. We’d have to see which team benefits more in each match whit this item .

"The counter to the item is the item and its how you fight back against the item" is not a great balance philosophy
i feel fred is also right in that the first person to change their build kinda just loses it, and this eventually also turns into a situation like overwatch where everyone is just constantly counter swapping to counter swap someone's counter swap and it becomes less of a competitive video game and more of a competitive swap item game

I honestly have no idea how this item would work in Deadlock. I think Fred might be somewhat right, but who knows.

Add a scaling price that scales with how deep into the round you are, and this could be cool in some cases. I feel like it would just be a battle of swapping builds until one person has the most dominant build after everyone has used their chance, fundamentally making the item useless in a way...

I think it would be a fun item.

The main problem with a full refund is that it doesn't punish bad buildmaking & it doesn't encourage healthy play habits. If a Dynamo could refund freely with refresher, at any point in the game he could use it, then swap to an item that isn't just dead in his inventory for 300 seconds. In theory, you might see dynamo buying lane items first, then as soon as he hits 6.4k popping a refresher double ult, then swapping back to normal build.

It's fun to think about, but extremely degenerate in practice.

futhermore some items are designed in such a way that they are strong early game, but weak late game. Being able to sell them for 100% price would make them way too strong.

Hmm... I think this is too easy. I think a huge part of gameplay is knowing what to invest in and, like real life, you'll never know for certain if your investments will pay off in the long run!

Sometimes you'll lose money/value because you might invest into another player's hard counter. Other times you'll have a sleeper build that comes online at the right moment and Thanos snaps everyone! Or, conversely, makes you immortal at just the right moment! Investing should feel rewarding.

Just a thought!
