Ranked Matching making should be back

IMHO as a solo right now game is quite literally unplayable.

Previously there was a lot of ppl, me including, not happy when they were getting archon stack versus phantom stack.. oh boy did this update put that shit in perspective :D :D :D

I STAND CORRECTED
I SUMBIT
I REPENT

YOSHI HAVE MERCY ON OUR SOULS PLEASE

before the rank redistribution, ranked queue game quality was through the roof compared with now

new changes matchmaking is crap.. i don't care about the badge i get.. but the quality of teammates i get now is just way worse. makes the game unfun macro wise..

Game is unplayable now, I have done 500+ games total, I got Phantom 2 post-rebalance.

The matches now are absolute worst games I had since it went public. It's actually so unplyable that I want to uninstall.

I absolutely love the game, but what kind of insane person will waste 20-30 mins per game, on matches that are unwinable, unplayable and full of AFK, toxicity of levels I have not even seen in LoL (5k+ hours). No communication, no teamwork, total chaos filled to the brim of sadness considering where it was just 1 week ago, and where it is today.

This all was while I was playing my main, who I have 300+ games, then I thought, hey I try something I never played again, first time hero, and the game was so unbalanced and toxic that I have yet to find words to describe it.

After 14 games since patch, I will take 10+ min Que, actually no, i will wait however long it takes to find matchmaking in ranked over what we have now.

Please allow me to play a game that i truly enjoy, with some form of teamwork, communication and players trying to win the game over what we have right now.

Anyone who complained previosly should burn in hell, coz what we have now is the worst its ever been and make hell feel like a nice cozy place.

So it has been few days, the matchmaker seems to be stabilised, and now I just can get people complaining about it at all. The games now are much more balanced and even, in my experience. Also, I am getting more player ready to talk than ever, no AFKs at all, and it is probably the best deadlock games ever were for me.

This is 100% not my experience - though it gives me hope - for me it's the exact same shitshow it has been with a person leaving nearly every game and stacks yelling at the non-stack casuals just trying to have a good time. Please revert this change (don't care about the ranks at all) just make a queue for people who want to play competitively and one for people who just want to learn/have fun - this is for sure hurting player base.

I played as recently as saturday and called it quits after another day of the same issues, nothing changed on my end. Same people feeding and playing out of position with zero comms. The game is just not fun right now.

The truth is, the quality of my matches were significantly better before they got rid of separate ranked queues. It is not less fun to play on average.

Honestly, I don't see any reason to bring back unranked games. I genuinely enjoy when every game is a Ranked game.

The mindset that within a single game we all love (Deadlock, in case you're wondering xD), there should be a separation for a "chill zone" just doesn't resonate with me.

If you want to chill go play some relaxing games or listen to music or watch the video.

If you come to play Deadlock then LET'S FUCKING GO! LET'S FIGHT! Enjoy the competition. No compromise.

This is the true spirit of true competitive game with results of your efforts after each game you played.

Chill zone aka unranked? Nah that's for dummies. There is a tutorial maps with bots for beginners. Thats enough

In the last 3 games I have had a teammate go 2-12, then the next game one goes 0-16, then the next game 3 teammates that go 1-6, 3-9, 2-12.

I'm fully done playing until ranked is back, I'm 3/8 in W/L since this patch, despite never having a single week even close to that bad since ranked came out, it is quite literally unplayable.
What are you talking about??

EVERY SINGLE GAME IS RANKED NOW.

You probably mean they should bring back skill-based MMR? When you could lose 10 games in a row and still maintain your rank?

Well, I think a simple MMR that counts wins/losses is fairer than the individual MMR we had before.

The problem is that, instead of just getting rid of ranked for a while, they got rid of the CASUAL mode. Now ranked is the ONLY mode.

People haven't realized that:

1. Every game is now RANKED.

2. MMR is now configured based on win/loss rather than individual skill, which was the case in the previous patch.

In the previous "ranked" games, whether you won or lost didn't matter as much. If you played well and had high damage, you could maintain or even increase your rank, even if your team lost the game.

Now, this has changed.

MMR is based on win/loss and the population in your rank. So, if the population is large, you need to win more to rank up, and vice versa.

These are the main changes to the ranked system.

I hope this helps

P.S.

As I stated before, we really do not need unranked matches.
They ruin the competitive mindset at the core.

If you want to chill, go listen to music or touch grass. Deadlock is where you need to play competitively.
For beginners, there is a training lobby with bots.

that's a terrible idea, one that isn't even true. rank has always been w/l only outside of your first few games.

Previously, the "ranked" mode was based on individual MMR. You could lose 10 games and still maintain the same rank if your damage and healing statistics were higher than your team's average. (i know what i am talking about I was experimenting around 50 hours on this)

This has changed in the latest patch.

Now you have MMR based on w/l

That's not even close to true.
. In the previous patch, the "ranked" mode was indeed based on individual MMR. You could lose multiple games and still maintain your rank if your damage and healing statistics were higher than your team's average. This system has changed in the latest patch, where MMR is now based on win/loss and the population in your rank.

I understand that it might be hard to believe, but it is what it is.

Yoshi has said multiple times in the discord that ranked MMR is practically exclusively based off of win/loss ratio. The only exception to this rule are your first few games, before you unlocked ranked. You got to maintain rank because the system is designed with streaks in mind. Ranked systems that take anything other than win loss ratio in mind are laughably flawed, and are well-documented in their ability to be abused to the point that competitive integrity is throw out the window.

yes I think the only way to make it fair is if rank is only based on win/loss otherwise the game developers are basically saying that they can better estimate your contribution to the game from your performance stats than the game itself (i.e. average win/loss), which would always be biased and gameable. But I think we are missing the ovservability of other people's ranks in game at the moment.

there's 4 pages to this so imma just say to start that i aint readin allat

ranked still technically exists and you still have your rank as well as individual rankings for heroes

but ranked isn't needed for a game not even in beta yet. it was there as a test just like everything else, and is subject to removal/reworking similarily like everything else.

i really wouldn't take an unreleased game so seriously

That's not even close to true.
Yeah the guy saying he knows how MMR was calculated off skill is completely making things up - not sure if it was to derail the thread or not but it worked. The point in the thread is that the game quality is worse now because they are combining people who want to play competitively with people who want to learn the game and chill. To say "no one should want to learn the game and chill" is fine to have ur own opinion of - but that doesn't change the fact that there's a massive population of these people (which will include every new player joining) and to have it just be RNG on them getting tossed into sweaty comp games or full no comms no strat games just doesn't make sense. At least have a separate queue for people who haven't played 50 games or something. In general there just needs to be an option for people who don't want to sweat game otherwise it's going to continue to be somewhat toxic (for both the sweaters and the newbs).

When you divide the same game into two sections, it becomes a "jack of all trades, master of none."

I understand that some gamers want a casual experience, but that should be in a different game. Not the same game, but something separate with more fun elements to it. Maybe smaller maps with no lanes where you can just shoot heroes. As an example.

This means that when gamers enter the line, they should be ready to play in full mode. To make line games 100% purely competitive without diluting them with "unranked" matches.

If players want a casual experience, they should choose a different mode. For example, a mode with smaller maps and 6v6 hero battles, no lanes, no creeps, just like CS:GO. This way, those who want to play competitively can enjoy the main game.

The point is, if you go into the line, be prepared mentally to fight. The mentality of wanting to play on chill is ruining competitive spirit.

Or let say unranked mode could be only possible for lowrank peoples.
