Item Lore

I like the item designs, but I have an issue with not knowing wth are those, some items (mostly active) like warp stone seem immersive to me, but others like most passive items seem a little bit off place, I know this could be hard to change and is rather irrelevant, but it could be an opportunity to have some story from items, as to how are we buying them, and why are the patrons selling them to us.

If someone has an idea as to what some items could be, I would love to see some theories, because I haven't found much arguments regarding this.

i like to think that purchasing burst fire is actaully purchasing the soul of a multi headed dragon (which we now produce en mass like caged chickens).

of course, i'm unable to think the same way for tankbuster or unstoppable, but i do like how intuitive those names are.

knockdown sticks out as a really abstract name as opposed to calling it summon anvil. but to me it avoids needing explanation because its funny that it exists. its the kind of supernatural that's more interesting the less we know about it

the icon for boundless spirit is a little different to what the name suggests, because it looks like you're awakening your own innate spirit instead of buying one. there's good potential for more implications that boundless specifically is very bad for your long term health, so maybe the whole upgrade series could be called "spirit growth", "spirit ignition", then "spirit wildfire" or anything out of control for tier 4.

From an occult/magic perspective, most of the items could probably be represented in-universe as mundane-looking trinkets or pendants or statuettes that have been imbued with some power by a ritual or alchemy, or are magical artifacts in themselves, especially the expensive ones. I'm currently playing the puzzle game Strange Antiquities which is about identifying magical artifacts and I kind of think that fits the vibe on how to imagine them. The variety makes it interesting.

As for the names, I kinda think it's a necessary evil. Although I really really hope nobody in-universe is saying "I gotta go buy myself a Knockdown!". That just sucks Some names are ok, Warp Stone, Focus Lens; but Knockdown, no, nobody's calling it Knockdown; nobody's calling it Weakening Headshot.

But for gameplay purposes I already highly prefer the descriptive names over what Dota 2 has become, and I played a lot of that and with all the changes over the years I couldn't tell you what anything does in that game anymore.
