Item Idea: Midas Touch

It's a cheap item that makes you gain double souls, if the negative effects weren't severe, it would be very powerful.

agreed. That doesnt change what i said about the pace of the game. You are talking about someone power farming with an item that severally takes their fighting power basically at any point in the game. This nerfs your damage more than inhibitor.

Yea its cheap. But anyone that buys this is not planning on fighting at all, which is severely detrimental to the team overall as they try to defend 5v6 because someone with this item isnt going to help.

And if they do, they do no damage unless they are pure spirit. And if thats done on purpose then gun characters will be at a severe disadvantage as they they wont pick this up.

There was another item that had negative effects and someone commented something along the lines of:

Negative effects arent really that good for the design of this game. In most cases, items with negative effects (very very few) have a bonus that contributes to constantly participating in the game actively. Glass cannon for example requires you to actively fight.

for other items, that are more passive, a lack of stats is more the way to go.

This item seems like its intended to make you farm faster. If i were to change this, I would remove the negatives and replace them with some health regen and some sprint speed. Just enough to get you from camp to camp somewhat health.

Maybe even add an active similar to Dota 2's midas touch where you can insta kill a camp every so often.

And probably switch it to a vit item. In dota, this is more of a support based item. Similar to LoL and Smite that have income items like this are all meant for supports that arnt actively farming but still need gold.

I could see changing the penalties to instead be reduced Spirit and Bullet Resist vs. NPCs. That makes it so you take more damage from farming jungle (and as such puts you at lower HP while doing so in the Jungle), but it's more rewarding.

Also, double souls is probably too much even for a 1250 item. +30-50% would be more appropriate.

Consider that most people expect about 1k souls per minute, while the high end players are closer to 1100-1200 Souls per minute. This item would literally pay for itself inside of a minute at top ends with double souls. +30% would mean you have to actually have it for a while before it has paid itself off.

That's why the penalty is big.

That doesnt make it better or even a good item.

Nothing wrong with an income item but this one isnt it. Take some of the feedback and revamp it. Otherwise its pointless to post your ideas because at that point you are just looking for validation and nothing else.

Negative stats are not good design for mobas or competitive games in general. Which is why items like glass cannon, dark seal/majais, or doom orb are only really purchased when someone is smurfing and tripling the gold and kills of everyone else in the game.

LIke I said previously, a lack of stats would be more appropriate. Not gaining power is still bad.

There's nothing stopping someone from buying this, farming all the camps nearby, then just selling it to make a profit. Since the item is cheap anyways, it wouldn't take long to make more money then you spent on it.
I don't think there should be items that directly increase the amount of souls you earn tbh. It sounds like a snowball waiting to roll.

I think the dota Midas touch would be fine. Just allows you to insta clear a camp and also has charges (but im not sure how the charges work exactly) Intended to be used for support builds.
