It lags when first entering the game.

The character moves normally when the game first enters the lobby, but it starts to lag as soon as it reaches the mode selection screen, and then becomes unresponsive. It takes about ten seconds to recover from the lag.

You do know that there is a shader compilation running in the background after starting the game?

As johannes mentioned, the map is being generated upon loading into the game. So, depending on your system, you'll likely experience lag as you enter the starting area, or shortly thereafter. I can't speak to the specifics of how they do this, but I would expect if it's an issue they're aware of, then the developers will look to remedy it in the future .

You may find checking your drivers are up to date could help in reducing the lag in the meantime
