FPS regression after recent update (CPU & GPU load ~40–50%, FPS capped lower than before)

Performance regression noticed after a recent update.

System:

  • CPU: i7-11700KF
  • GPU: RTX 3060
  • RAM: 32 GB (XMP enabled)
  • 1080p / 144 Hz

Before the update:

  • Stable ~150–160 FPS
  • No custom configs or system tweaks
  • Smooth and consistent frametimes

After the update:

  • Average FPS ~100–110
  • Frequent dips below 100
  • Occasional spikes to 180–200
  • Graphics settings mainly change GPU load, FPS remains mostly unchanged
  • CPU and GPU usage both stay around 40–50%

Additional observation:
On newly updated bases (larger, more detailed):

  • GPU load is higher
  • FPS is better and more stable (140–160)

In older or more dynamic areas, FPS is lower despite lighter visuals.

Hardware and OS did not change.
The game previously ran smoother without any tweaks.

I have the same problem, 400 hours in the game.
I played for 250-300 hours without any FPS issues.
The problems started after the last update.

RTX4080

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3d 8-core

32 GB RAM

The video card isn't running at full capacity, specifically in Deadlock, 40%-75%. 100-200 FPS during gameplay, 300-400 FPS in the lobby.

ENG:

I have some new information for you, and maybe it will help you, because it helped me. Basically, the day before yesterday, I was able to significantly increase the FPS by forcing the GPU to work at almost full power.

My problem was that I had been using the very first version of BIOS for three years, which meant that my processor wasn't running at the required frequencies. It was running much slower than it could have been, which prevented the video card from running at full capacity.

In short, update your BIOS and undervolt your processor to improve performance, because the guys on Reddit were right after all. Source 2 is still demanding on the processor, and in my case, the processor was preventing me from getting adequate FPS.

Now I have 280-300 fps +- in the game.
The GPU sometimes drops, but usually it's 90-97%.

Friend, this is a game issue, not a processor issue. I don’t think that everyone just suddenly started having the same problem at the same time, regardless of their hardware.
But I’m also trying to solve the problem, that’s why I’m here. I have a Core i7-6700K, and I used to play smoothly at 80–120 FPS before the update with the bases. Even now, everything is fine until about the 20-minute mark of the match, but after that the FPS gradually starts dropping to around 40–80 with noticeable spikes.
