This has been an issue since I started playing, but it has generally been pretty rare, happening once every few games.

However, this past game has been particularly bad, happening over ten times.

Game ID 65648072

Sometimes jitter will show a huge red spike in the middle of a low graph. However, my connection will remain stable, with buddies in a discord call being able to hear my voice totally stably without any stuttering or robo voice. The problem is not remedied by changing my graphics settings to low. There is no lag or ping issues outside of this issue.

I believe I finally found the issue. Seems to have been multiple compounding issues.

TL;DR- Disable UPnP on your router. If you are on linux or steamdeck, turn off your bluetooth, and only enable EITHER ethernet or wifi.
I tried a bunch of troubleshooting. Re-verifying files, re-installing, different versions of Proton, installing the game on different drives. Nothing really seemed to work.

I came across an earlier post from a while back that said disabling XMP in the bios might help? That source2 is sensitive about RAM overclocking? Didn't work.

I disabled Bluetooth since that has caused wifi stuttering in the past. It helped a little, but then I still DC'd later.

Disabled wifi altogether so I was only using ethernet, and that helped the disconnecting for a while, but I would still get huge spikes in Jitter.

Finally, my buddy told me to disable UPnP on my router and that solved it.

As far as I can tell, what was happening went as follows:

  1. Game would connect just fine.
  2. UPnP would cause a small hiccup in my connectivity.
  3. My linux machine would automatically detect the hiccup and move from Ethernet to Wifi
  4. This would flag things in one way or another and boot me out to the lobby in case I was trying to lag-switch.
If you're on a linux machine or a Steam Deck and having this same issue, I would advise you try this. Turn off UPnP on your router, turn off bluetooth, and make sure you're only connected by one source of internet connectivity.

Devs, do with this what you will.

Bug is back. Forced DCs continue to happen, despite completely stable connection.

Seems to be a problem mostly effecting Doorman, oddly enough? It's quite inconsistent, but frustrating. Does make the game unplayable at times.
