I've been playing Deadlock for a while on one account since release. I stopped playing the game, came back, and have not been able to get out of my initiate rank despite playing good.
I believe the current matchmaking system makes it impossible for you to get out lower ranks as other new players who are put into the "initiate" category are really toxic, dont listen, and dont know how to play. Ill have really good games and shred the enemy team but I'll get a terrible team on my end causing us to lose. From what I've noticed, if you lose that means you're getting dropped lower on the totem pole no matter if you are kicking as*. Not only that, but more often then not you are getting bad teams as opposed to good ones.
I joined with a higher ranking team and was able to hold my own at Emissary levels.
I've added 3 pics below. One has me get 20 kills while my team is so-so, one has me stay positive K/D 9 kills while my team gets destroyed, and one shows me holding my own in emissary levels playing with a group. I believe these pics show a perfect depiction of what I have described above.
I am not coding inclined, but I figure something needs to be done to change how to the matchmaking weighs your skill in order to place you correctly as its rather aggravating having to play with lower tier people who dont know how to play.
In conclusion, I believe the current matchmaking system is broken and needs fixing as I have been able to hold my own in higher tiers playing with other people, as well as playing with people in the same tier as me. The way matchmaking works should also be made public so that people playing dont feel like they are endlessly playing in the same tier.
