Bad Matchmaking Thread

How do matches like this even get matchmade? 4 players with >54% winrate with hundreds of games vs. 5 players below 49% and one player above 52% winrate? How is this even REMOTELY fair? Who was supposed to carry this?

Seriously Valve, PLEASE just increase matchmaking quality at the cost of time. I am willing to wait 10mins for a great game of Deadlock, but instead the Matchmaker is wasting hours of my time with unwinnable stompfests.

Genuinely one of the worst games I've played this month. We barely got any guardians, our Mcginnis was p much throwing by going for a Sentry build, the enemy team had a 70k soul difference. Quality matchmaking Valve. Keep it up. [ID: 34902978]

Honestly don't know what's going on. I'm tumbling down the ranks and I'm not playing any differently from before. Every game it seems like I have newbies on my team. 34904583

The entire OCE community has left due to this matchmaking. Everyone I know has stopped playing because of this. 3 x Eternus and 3 x top 100 players 6-stacked, every game.

I am all supportive of a dev team experimenting with different maps, layouts and balancing, but it means nothing when you decimate an entire community and there is no one left to play...

Matchmaking hates when I play with my friends.

I've been climbing through Ritualist. When I play with my friend in Arcanist, all of our games are in Arcanist or low Ritualist. If I win, I don't climb rank. If I lose a couple, I drop rank.

I have another friend in Seeker. When I play with them, all of our games are in Alchemist. If I win, I don't climb rank. If I lose one match, I drop one rank.

Matchmaking will always put me in a situation where I cannot rank up, but I can easily rank down. I don't actually care about the rank (I'm using it as an objective measure of how matchmaking isn't working properly), but I do care that I am always the best player on the team expected to carry 5 players that don't know the most basic things about the game.

Here are the last 4 matches that cause me to drop 4 ranks, despite being basically unwinnable:

34733306 (280k-227k souls; I shouldn't have picked McGinnis, but my teammates also shouldn't have died 57 times)
34734205 (139k-82k souls; my teammates were 6-43-7)
34734691 (174k-133k souls; one of our lanes was 2-17-0 and refused to listen to comms telling them to back off)
34735370 (352k-316k souls; closest match soulwise, but unwinnable because our Calico refused to do anything other than farm the jungle)

I'm a top performer on my team in every match. I shouldn't be. Not every match. We shouldn't be losing the other 2 lanes EVERY match.

I can solo queue and improve my rank. However, it won't matter because I'll be forced into unwinnable matches when I play with my low ranking friend again. Matchmaking needs to recognize that I'm not a gaming god that can carry 5 new players every single lobby. Matchmaking needs to recognize that my friend is significantly worse than me, and being in comms does not suddenly improve his mechanics or game sense.

I've said it before, but I'll say it again:

THE SOLUTION TO PARTY BASED MATCHMAKING is simple. Give parties a separate MMR from their regular MMR. Treat individuals in a party as a completely new account. When I play with my arcanist friend, we should share an MMR that's around low ritualist (where we get decent games for our collective skill level). When I play with my seeker friend, we should share an MMR that's around high alchemist (where we get decent games). If we win/lose, that should effect our shared party MMR and it should either not count at all for my main solo queue MMR or it should be heavily weighted.

Currently, matchmaking assumes that my low ranking friend and I are both better than we are when partied. It's this assumption that's ruining our experience. Instead of guessing, the matchmaking algorithm should be precise. Please introduce party MMR and give me teammates that are on the same level, not 2 full ranks below me. Stop assuming being in a discord call gives you an advantage, especially in a game that has comms available to anyone.
Matchmaking is just completely fucked right now. I don't know what it is. The second we queue SLIGHTLY out of perfect sync in our party (rank wise) the matchmaking goes completely haywire. We still finde games in less than a minute though. Like, whats the point? Just let me queue for 10min if it means a SLIGHTLY balanced game instead of ... this?

It put me and my friends(infernus and abrams), who are all on the east coast of the USA, in an EU match. None of us were using a vpn, and we all had ping over 100 the entire match. It was impossible to secure souls in lane because we were lagging so behind the entire match from the ping. It also queued us into more than a division above our ranks(average archon). Don't understand how this happens, and it has been happening more and more. So frustrating.

One sided stomp per usual, alongside a farmed up enemy team + pocket, very little communication, though that's probably because our Vindicta was being a little bitch who kept being toxic to people in VC and barely made any of us actually wanna communicate

34929669, you might want to have better matchmaking with this game. Or start assessing characters' risk vs reward. It's actually so bad when quick cast is better than anything else right now.1744858410030.png

This game was over at about the 5 minute mark. If there was a "Forfeit Match" button at that point I would've hit it.
Checking tracklock, Rocaine and Vegas have Eternus games in the past 10 games. (Rocaine has an eternus 6 game in the past 10, vegas has eternus 1 and eternus 2 in the past 10.)

I'm completely aware that the matchmaker at nighttime will be bad (this was a 12:30AMish game? NA servers, that's 12:30AM pacific/west-coast/Los Angeles time) But I would much rather have a 1 minute queue time than a 17 minute and 49 second wait for the enemy team to actually finally kill us.
rocaine is on hydranation, one of the best players in na. kinda crazy hes in an oracle 6/ph1 game.
