Another coms ban (didn't say a single negative or bad word)

Yeah like when someone says stuff like ez it just motivates me to play to win so I can gloat back when I win the game. Never thought about reporting for it. Sure it's rude kinda but it just makes it more fun to humble people like that.
I mean in general I don't think ggez is reportable at all. It's insane to me that roblox lobbies full of 10 year olds have less strict chat rules than a game that's probably mostly played by adults 18+. When have we all turned into snowflakes that get upset over basic banter? I totally understand banning people for saying the N word or the Rtr word or F word, ect. But stupid? ggez? calling someone ass? None of that should be bannable. If you think it should be, please go play a kids game, though like I said, you'll probably hear worse insults in a children's game.

i dont think games with this type of report system is healthy for the community.

Imagine counter-strike, dota or if any big game censored/banned for saying ggez. Would those game be this big?
What i learned from all my years of gaming is to mute annoying people quickly.

When reporting people for coms abuse itshould automatically mute that person. Bad enough to report must be bad enough to mute.

That's the fun part. People are getting banned from chatting while NOT chatting. This is not sustainable and there's a reason CCU is down 10k this week. Less testers, less data, worse result. It's critical this gets changed.

inb4 ggez censor memes and low recurring numbers

people who lose just throws reports out there to make them feel better. And its very effective.
This. And it's worse now that everyone is aware they can get anyone banned. Anyone upset at losing quickly finds a scapegoat to blame/report.

and guilty toxic players are treated the same way as innocent playrs so if you say ggez you get flagged just as if you said racial slurs or hate speech

Okay, let's entertain this. Where is your proof or source that you can be banned without saying anything? How do you know it's not simply an accumulation of reports?

For example, how do we know that it's the immediate game before a chat restriction that results in the current penalty? What if you get reported, and the system takes a few hours or days to actually impose a chat restriction? Meanwhile, you have multiple other pending reports. Then, when you come back, it implements the next pending restriction, leading you to think it was the previous match where you simply pinged a target. We really have no idea how the system works currently beyond speculation.

I could see something like this causing a problem. Say multiple people report you for the same thing, and the first three reports trigger the restriction, and then the next three stack on top of that. I don't know; I would imagine that as a potential bug.

I'm not saying the system is perfect; I'm not saying what is happening to you is all right. I'm simply saying we don't know what we don't know but the common denominators are repeat accounts.
I can say that its not how that works based on the punishment's that was handed out to me. I got muted the first time for 24 hours, it was deserved so i didnt complain or post anything, i came back, not knowing how the system works, played 3 games and got a 3 day mute, i didnt understand it so after the 3 days, i just said to myself i wont talk or type in chat anymore until the system is fixed, yesterday i played 2 games, won both games, got muted...so after not playing for 3 days, then playing 2 unrated games, winning both, a mute was handed out while i was not speaking in chat or voice comms...how can u abuse comms without using them>? The system is a total joke, im now muted for 7 days and i dont know for what, bad language is not even being used on some of these replays that ppl r posting...u should be allowed to disagree with someone... thats not toxic... someone can say that your build is not optimal... without u getting reported and that report counting...

This is a total clown show and u can clearly see by the number of threads being made, ppl have surpassed that threshold of the first punishment which is 24 hours, and after that its literally instant punishment again, the first punishment is the one thats much harder to get, after that u constantly getting abused because all it takes is 3 reports from anyone, even the enemy team, and its not getting checked so u can start every game by spamming reports and they all go thru..

I wonder where the 3 report = comms ban myth comes from....

Can we call the myth buster and trace the truth, or do people use that excuse to cope?

I don't think yoshi is that dumb to make a threshold of 3 report in 1 game = comms ban.

I hope yoshi himself can confirm this myth.

7 day ban in one game because I'm unlucky enough to queue into a griefing stack that mass reports after abusing me over voice chat all game.

You know, I don't think this is as big of a problem as people are making it out to be. I see the same 10 to 15 (ish) people posting the same topic over and over. It's always the same story:
  • 'I got banned and I'm totally innocent.'
  • 'Well... I did [insert thing they did].'
Then...
  • 'But you can do this in [insert other game/situation].'
Is the system abusable? Yes. Are there false reports? Yes. Is it being abused to the extent you're all making it out to be? I doubt it (just my personal opinion). You have a handful of folks on the forums with this problem out of around 50,000 active players. Let's be liberal with the numbers and say there are 30 people here complaining about this. Out of 50,000, that represents roughly 0.0006% of the player base.

Here are some tips:
Why is it always the same repeat offenders with these issues?

One change I do wish they would implement is at least telling players what caused the ban. They have the data, so just send a notification to a player when they are chat-restricted saying, 'You are banned from chat because [insert action they did].'
There is only like 2000 people in this forum what a braindead take. if you actually crunch the numbers and say there is around 50 people with is issue and that would be 2.5% of the player base or 1250 people at the minimum. you also have to take into account that there could be people in this forum who are dealing with this issue who haven't talked about it. So this is a conservative number

Nah, i literally JUST got a 7 day ban, and the WORST thing I said in the game was "Good job farming while ur team is fighting. Smart." Like I am not even joking, that is THE WORST thing I said in that game. If you get banned for that just because I already had a ban before, nah. I refuse to play a game that has this type of system. That's insane. Matchid: 25835605
Yoshi, please take a look for urself and tell me if I said ANYTHING that deserves a ban. I never used a microphone, and all I typed is callouts and comments on the game or plays, never once did I say anything to anyone. This is a joke at this point.

Actually I can tell you for a FACT that the system is just based on how many reports you get. Rather than checking what you said/did. MikaelS got banned on stream, because the people he beat all reported him. And he is literally the least toxic player I've watched streams of. Like you can literally watch what he says in games on his stream and he is NEVER toxic.

You got a VOD? That blows. Literally never heard him rage in my games with him.

This is how games are killed. I liked the game, made art for it, created discussions and videos only to be rewarded by an unnecessary and false ban.

Never have i been banned in 2 decades of gaming i did like this, been playing cs for more than a decade and got banned only once after electricity shortage and that was about it. If this is how valve is gonna go about this, i'm out.

how did he get unbanned or did he have to wait the entire time like normal people? I think devs dont care until streamers start to get affected because of exposure. A quick glanse at the reoccuring player count tells me that they might want to fix this as it keeps people from playing, and the game already bleeds heavy numbers every day.

This is my second unjustified ban if i get a third i will just forget this game as it is unplayable.

this clip is so telling. Now he has to play on his smurf account and ruin the game for 11 players per match.

Okay, let’s say the forum has around 2,000 members; that’s not the same as saying only 2,000 people play the game. The player base is still around 50,000 active players. Even if 50 people are vocal about issues here, that’s 2.5% of the forum members, not 2.5% of the entire player base.

People are naturally more vocal about issues, so we see more complaints here. Using forum complaints alone to generalize about the entire player base doesn’t reflect the broader reality. We’d need a lot more data on silent players and the actual scale of this issue to make that jump.

The truth is, only Valve has the data to make claims like this. What we do see are reports in the tens, not hundreds or thousands, and many of these posts are from the same people. I’m sure some players are falsely banned, and I sympathize with them. I hope the system improves to prevent these false punishments.

That said, you’re not making a strong case for yourself after being banned for voice/chat abuse and then coming here claiming innocence while calling people 'brain dead.' This behavior only reinforces why your chat restriction might have been justified.

i think the big majority will just play another game after 1-2 false bans and move on. maybe 1% will come here and try to find a solution or help.
i started playing with 5 people and now im the only one left and im banned so i cant even play. that is -6 people who all enjoyed the game but got banned for a 15second disconnect/coms ban for saying ggez or even being completely silent etc. nonsense stuff really.
