Vram memory leak

I did some testings on my rig right now and i figure out that game eat around 12 GB vram from 16 GB but this is on higher settings
On the low settings its use 7.4 GB

I had this issue and it disappeared on its own. Although I am running linux with nvidia so I just assumed it was a driver issue (current ones are fairly unstable for 50 series). I tried many launch options, proton versions etc to no avail. What ended up fixing it for me was either a system update from my distro or the march patch, happened around the same time.
What 'I think' fixed it for me was a typical system update, and I also cleared all launch options and switched to proton experimental.

system specs;
CachyOS
Linux 6.19.7-1-cachyos
CPU. 5800x3D
GPU. Nvidia 5070ti
nvidia-open 595.45.04
64gb ram

my system is fairly high end and the issue did not exist on windows 11, so for me it was definitely just a linux-nvidia issue (which went away with updates, not game related).

some things to try, but likely more placebo if anything.
1. Verify game files (I assumed this was done already)
2. Redownload the game entirely
3. Remove all launch options
4. if on linux switch to proton experimental (often better than native)
5. Run game in fullscreen (not borderless windowed)

This should give you a 'clean' slate which is closest to what the devs expect people to be running the game at. But again every single system is different which leads to these edge cases, and VRAM leaks are tough to debug in general.

If all fails, do an isolation test with only the game running to be certain nothing else is causing the leaks.

I'm also experiencing the same issue which also seems related to vram leak (I think it improved a little bit on this patch). I start the game with 170 fps and using 6.4GB out of 8GB of vram and in some random games the vram reaches the 8GB max and fps start tanking to 15 or so.

OS: CachyOS x86_64
Proton experimental
Motherboard: Gigabyte A520M K V2
Kernel: Linux 6.19.6-2-cachyos
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X @ 4.65 GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
Memory: 2x8GB DDR4 3600 MT
SSD: 1TB KINGSTON SNV2S1000G

This is the only game I have experienced this and I have only really noticed it in the standard matches I haven't seen the issue in street brawl.
which GPU driver are you using?
I am also on CachyOS using this driver and I am having no issues.
nvidia (open source) 595.45.04

I had the exact same issue a few weeks ago where it was only in standard and not in street brawl, but it went away.

When I wrote the comment it was 590.48.01 (proprietary). I installed CachyOS recently (like 2 or 3 weeks) before I was using PopOS and had the same issue. I will try your suggestions, thank you for the tips

a normal system update with pacman -Syu should do the trick, with reboot of course
