Hero Concept: The Boy
Theme:
A young boy (6) wandering the Cursed Apple. He never fights directly. His imagination manifests brief, storybook-like heroes—knights, rangers, cowboys, monsters—that attack on his behalf. It’s playful on the surface but would be cool if he was an actual carry type.
I am thinking the boys lore is that his parents or one parent is dead like his dad and he copes through escapism. He could even have odd quirks where hes not really like a likeable kid moreso like morose and unsure of himself.
Core Mechanic – Fantasy Charge (Passive)
Landing consecutive auto attacks without missing builds Fantasy or imagination.
- Missing drains it
- Partial charge enhances abilities
- Full charge unlocks the ultimate
It rewards precision and focus.. I am thinking that you can build this up like rage that unlocks your ultimate sort of like Samira in League where she needs to obtain S rank on her combos to unlock her ultimate ability.
Auto Attack – Point and Tell
The boy points.
A different imagined figure appears, attacks once, and vanishes (archer arrow, revolver shot, thrown blade, etc.). Fast, readable manifestations. This is where the Ender Lillies reference comes into play. Could just be one character that comes in to shoot their weapon, or it could be just random Heros popping in super quickly to shoot projectiles. The player perspective would just be the character pointing his finger as the heros do their thing around you in some stylish way.
Other Abilities To Brainstorm
- Charge of the Story Knight – A knight spirit charges forward, slashing enemies in a line. At higher Fantasy, the knight rides a horse or performs a heavier finishing strike.
I will protect you – A tall guardian spirit (his dead dad though not explicitly stated in his kit) manifests in front of the boy, absorbing damage. Never attacks. When it breaks, it kneels and fades. Could be just a defensive thing.
Spirit Ranger – A ranger spirit appears behind the boy and fires a piercing arrow forward. At higher Fantasy, fires multiple arrows or a charged shot.
Swashbuckler’s Parry – A pirate duelist spirit steps in, blocking incoming damage for a brief moment and counter-slashing nearby enemies. At higher Fantasy, the counter hits in a wider arc.
Gunslinger – A cowboy-like spirit steps out, fires a high impact sniper shot with his rifle. At higher Fantasy, shots ricochet or fan outward.
Shieldbearer – A heavily armored spirit slams a shield into the ground, briefly knocking enemies back. At higher Fantasy, the shield remains for a short duration.
Storybook Giant – A towering, slow-moving giant spirit lumbers forward and slows enemies in the area.
(Heavy “imagination first” kit, with subtle emotional cues rather than explicit lore.)
Ultimate – Now I’m the Hero
At full Fantasy, the boy becomes his imagined superhero for a short time. Could be a hero he and his dad made up during story time and is super nostalgic to the boy and gives him strength to face the challenges of his life.
- Gains faster movement and empowered attacks
- Abilities temporarily convert into direct, playful hero actions (big leap, comic-style strikes, brief toughness)
