Sonic Boom: An upgrade to Fleetfoot that brings back HMC

I know there's been plenty of suggestions that bring back the idea of Heavy Melee Cancelling, and I am one of those people who believe in that. But instead of it being its own item, it was an upgrade from Fleetfoot? On its own it would cost $3,200, but with the purchase of Fleetfoot it would cost another $1,600. Upon use it would an explosive burst that would propel the player horizontally in whatever direction they are moving (could also be used for strong backdashes or doing stuff like combo-ing it with the momentum of riding on the railing or hopping off the air vents around the bridge buffs). It would be indicated by a cannon fire type sound effect along with a bursting air effect that jets get when going faster than the speed of sound.

As for its cooldown, I can imagine it being something like 25-30 if it's too powerful, and it possibly being a Tier-4 if balance be needed. I'm not really good at balancing when it comes to Deadlock, but the point is Fleetfoot, while a good item, would benefit from having the revival of HMC back in the form of an upgrade.

The item is nice, but maybe it should be different item rather than Fleetfoot's upgrade? It's already have an active ability. Your variant requires to change the ability to another.

I can see similar item as stamina-based. Maybe an upgrade for Extra Stamina or another dash-jump item with passive/active that lets you to propel yourself via dash/dash-jump much further. We have Stamina Mastery that have increase air dash and jump distances, but what about ground variants? Your item could fill the hole here with the ability you suggested.

Thinking about it, yeah I can see that being something for Stamina, but at the same time there is also many upgrades related to it like Kinetic Dash, Stamina Mastery and Arcane Surge. If it were to be its own thing, I could see it being something akin to Extra Health where you could upgrade it to Fortitude (Stamina Mastery in this case) or go further and go to Sonic Boom (Colossus).

Though for a potential solution to it overriding Fleetfoot's upgrade, one idea that comes to mind is it bringing up two choices before use: Use M1 to use the normal Fleetfoot upgrade or another mouse button to go for SB. That way you can get the best of both worlds kind of like how you can choose to give a teammate Scourge or apply it on yourself.

You may well be right. At least your train of thought is fine. It could be an annoy for eyes to see yet another one stamina item.

I forgot somehow about this. It actually makes sense. You can choose between "instant quick dash" or temporary speed boost, depending on the situation. That's an excellent solution.
