Shared steam library

So I got invited by a friend and currently waiting for access to be granted but I did play the game via his library that he shares with me on steam but now I'm worried that I won't be able to own the alpha for myself since he told me when he checks the "Already joined" tab in game he can see my steam account. Just wanted to know how this will play out for me.
