Severe Stuttering on Linux after 30 minute mark in match

After roughly 30 minutes in a match, without fail, my FPS drops from 30-40 to around 10, varying a lot. If I face my own spawn and do not move the mouse, or if I spectate another player because I'm dead, the game looks normal, but when I try to move I experience severe stuttering.

This happens every game at roughly 30 minutes. If I restart the game and rejoin the match, the issue goes away. If I exit and rejoin the match without closing the game, the issue persists. This did not occur before the October patch.

Here are some matchIDs: 27103191, 27065610, 27060030, 27056792.

I am running the game on a docked Steam Deck with a mouse and keyboard. In one game, another linux user told me he experiences the same issue.

Just adding that I've had the same experience. Running proton 9.0-3
This will happen to me at least once a game now and I have to exit and restart the game completely to get back to normal framerates. I drop from 120+ fps to 10. This did not happen before the november patch and now happens every game.

It is caused by steam, as the thread points out adding LD_PRELOAD="" %command% to your launch options should help until valve fixes it. The issue seems to be tied to the steam interface itself, including the overlay. Adding the above disables the overlay from hooking into the game.

Will it work for Windows? Or is a different solution needed?

Seems like it worked, but my games haven't reached 35+ mins to know for sure.

restarting the game solves the issue

Restarting only restored my fps for another 30 mins or so until it happened again.
Enabling steam overlay appears to have fixed it.
I don't like being forced to enable the overlay but at least the game is playable.
