Says I'm in a party, but I am not, and it's preventing me from playing

After I finished a game with friends, there was an update to the game. I downloaded the update and rebooted the game. But then I couldn't A) join my friends party B) invite my friends to a party C) solo queue for a game D) do a bots game E) join party through a code F) create a party code. All resulted in a same or similar error code "you can't enter matchmaking by yourself since you're in a party". But there is also no leave party option on my screen.

To solve this I tried A) restarting the game B) verifying files C) reinstalling the game D) restarting my PC E) logging out of steam and logging back in. All with the same results, an error code that said I was in a party so I couldn't play the game.

Is there another way to fix this? Or is this because of the newest update?

Same here, ive even went to the console commands in the game by pressing F7 and removed myself from the "party", but still no luck.

You will have to be patient. In my case it took 1,5 weeks until the issue has been solved by an update. But since the update cycle has been increased by the dev team to 4 weeks, it might take a bit longer.

the bug fixes itself after a game update. its something they should look at though as it happens every time for some users

Next patch sadly, they need to add a command to force purge you out of any parties or something like that. Or purge parties a bit more often than they give patches. Valve, pls fix
