Rank stuck on initiate 2 (VALVE FIX THIS PLEASE)

Changing ranks by doing nothing is completely normal. Rank is based on ELO (or Glicko, or whatever). You do not know your ELO. It's hidden, you can never see it (in some games you can, like in TF2:
). ELO is based on wins/losses using some complex formulas. Rank is based on ELO by dividing ALL players into ranks based on their RELATIVE ELOs. So the 1.7% of the players with the lowest ELO will be placed in Initiate II, the 0.5% of the players with the highest ELO will be in Eternus VI, et cetera (percentages are examples).

This means that your rank depends not just what you are doing, but also what others are doing, and who you are matched with and against. If you keep winning against players with lower ELO than you, then you won't gain much ELO because you were expected to win.

Now, according to Tracklock ( https://tracklock.gg/ranks ), Initiate II is actually currently the lowest rank, so there may indeed be something wrong for players who are consistently winning games yet still stuck there, maybe some boundary effect or incorrectly calculated ELO or something. Or maybe something about new players joining the game? No idea, we can't look under the hood.
I have never changed ranks on League of Legends by doing absolutely nothing. I know that's a thing in challenger, that's for sure.

I suspect how they calculate elo and predicting winstreaks is completely off. There is many evidence and claims come from all levels of skill.

I'm not saying that the system is or isn't broken, I'm just saying that changing ranks by doing nothing is entirely possible in many ELO-ish ranking systems.
