Original concept was loosely based on a long cut hero from the NP era and the fact this game doesn't have fortify.
Sokolov2601 posted a character that shares a similar aesthetic to what I'm going for, and also has a spear for their gun.
Mars from Dota also has a similar aesthetic and was probably what inspired the NP version of phalanx. So I guess we've gone full circle.
Physically, they are a big character (abrams or dynamo size), who carries a spear and a giant shield almost as tall as themselves.
I think it would be funny if they were surprisingly acrobatic, and had animations that showed them doing things like pole vaulting when they jump by using a spear, or slide animations having them slide on the shield like a sled.
For their gun, they throws spears, which pierce enemies (like paige's projectiles). they deal high damage and move quickly but they have a painfully slow fire rate (im assuming they'll have some animation of grabbing another spear off their back every shot).
1 creates an area that is repeatedly bombarded with ghostly spears, slowing enemies to keep them in it longer.
2 is a combination of abrams/billy charge and doorman's luggage cart; they run towards the enemies and then blast them backwards.
3 grants buffs to themselves and nearby allies, splitting incoming damage between everyone in the radius, making them a huge help to teamfights.
4 is my take on DOTA's fortify mechanic, except as an ult (on the longest cooldown of any ult in the game currently!) that massively buffs towers and everyone fighting to defend them. Since midboss also doesn't buff creeps anymore, the last level of their ult doubles the size of your next creep wave, making it a good pushing tool as well. Using the ult effectively is meant to be difficult but rewarding.
