Monkey's Paw

Cost: 0 souls

Effects: Gain X souls (some base amount that scales up every 5 minutes), permanently lose that item slot as the monkey paw has no stats and cannot be sold (like Dota's Divine Rapier). You can buy a vitality, mystic, or weapon monkey paw, but you can only buy one paw for the game.

This is meant as a last ditch comeback mechanic, or, as a risky win harder gambit to clinch a game by bringing a hero "online" a little earlier.

I like trade off items like Glass Cannon, and it gives teams getting absolutely stomped a hail mary option. Thoughts?

Welcome back, Piggy Bank from Awesomenauts.
(An item that was infamously tricky to balance for most of that game's lifespan until it was nerfed into basically being irrelevant.)

Honestly thought this would be some powerful 6200 vitality item with some drawback based on title and backstory of the reference.

I could get into this if it’s effect was limited in some way - soul multiplier for x minutes, stops breaks after death, breaks the next time you enter the shop, etc.

I could also see a mechanic where it chooses its slot randomly, to add to the risk factor of picking it up.

Overall I like the idea of more items that bring a detriment along with them.

> Start game
> Instantly get mystic monkey paw (Maybe weapon depending on your hero)
> Experience massive soul powerspike as nobody has nearly as many souls as you do right now
> Win lane and snowball to the easiest win you've ever gotten

Free soul items will always be used as an early advantage for goobers, and will never ever work without at minimum, a time constraint.
