Keyboard Input Causing Frame-time Spikes

As soon as I press down more than one key at a time, my frame-time jumps from 8.2ms to 15.3 causing an noticeable stutter every 3-4 seconds. Has nothing to do with mouse polling rate, or CPU bottleneck. Only happens when keys are pressed, whether it's a keyboard or mouse button input. Doesn't happen with any other game.

I can consistently reproduce the issue, as holding down "w" and "d" consistency causes the frame-time jump, while just holding "w" keeps my frame-time at a constant 8.2ms.

I believe this has been an issue since around the Shop Overhaul Update

I'm using MSI Afterburner to capture frame-times

I’m having the exact same issue as well.

Any time I press a key or mouse button, my frametime spikes — even though my average FPS is very high. It’s especially noticeable in my 0.1% lows, which drop from 120+ down to around 40 whenever an input is pressed.

It doesn’t happen in other Source 2 or DX12 games, only in Deadlock.

My setup:
• Ryzen 7 5800X3D
• RTX 4080
• 32 GB DDR4-3600

I’ve tried reinstalling, changing USB ports, disabling background apps, testing different polling rates, and switching between Vulkan/DX11 — nothing changes it.

UPDATE:

Fixed! The FPS drops when pressing keys or clicking the mouse were resolved by:

  1. Disabling fullscreen optimizations on the Deadlock executable.
  2. Running the game directly from the desktop instead of launching it through Steam.

After this, my FPS is completely stable, even during input.
