Item Idea: Torment Pulse Evolution

It could have an improved torment pulse of 6400, an upgrade that deals more damage and slows enemies, or some additional effect.

No, scourge has nothing to do with torment pulse. Besides, scourge is inferior to torment pulse.
Scourge is basically Torment Pulse, but T4. The only real difference in application is that Scourge isnt active 100% of the time, but any kind of upgrade to Torment Pulse would necessarily step on the toes of Scourge.

Also, you are absolute crazy if you think Scourge is inferior to Torment Pulse. Scourge both does more damage when you need it and provides more survivability than Torment Pulse. The biggest advantage Torment Pulse has is that it's cheaper, which means you will have it for longer in a match, which is why you see it as a larger contributor to your overall damage if you look at your stats.

The enemy would have to have 3k+ health for the scourge to do the same damage as the torment pulse. Scourge's only advantage is spiritual resistance, in terms of damage, Torment Pulse is better.

MOST heroes have 2.5-3k health by the end of a match.

The Doorman, for instance, is one of the lowest HP heroes and at 32 boons(max) he ends up at a base of 2019 HP with NO Statue buffs and NO vitality items. With as little as 3.2k soul investment, his HP goes straight up 2362(assuming THAT doesn't also give him bonus HP). Again, this is with NO golden urn buffs, which basically any hero will have at least 100-150 bonus HP from those by that point. Since that value is multiplied by your Vitality investment, you are almost guaranteed a minimum of 2.5k. Typically more than that.

And that's on one of the LOWEST HP heroes. It pretty much only goes up from there. (Mina is the biggest exception as she struggles to break even 2.5k)

So yeah, MOST heroes are going to have 3k+ HP by the end of a match, which is when Scourge is most needed. Add to the fact that Scourge adds twice as much Spirit investment as Torment pulse does (meaning more bonus Spirt) and the fact that it makes it easier for you to stay in melee (as the middle of the fray is where most spirit damage is going around anyway) and Scourge is BLATANTLY stronger than Torment Pulse. There are 3 primary reasons it's not picked up as often as Torment Pulse:

1.) Torment pulse is half the price of Scourge. This is the single biggest reason.

2.) Scourge works better late game than Torment Pulse. This means it's best value is gotten later in the match.

3.) Scourge takes up an active slot, which can often be at a premium.

The only thing that Scourge doesn't do that Torment Pulse does is provide melee resist, the weakest form of resist in the game.

Here's the things Scourge has over Torment Pulse:

1.) Larger radius

2.) Better damage scaling.

3.) More frequent damage ticks

4.) Won't reveal you in a Veil to enemies trying to find you (as it's not always active)

5.) Can be used on allies AS WELL as yourself

6.) Gives a MASSIVE boost to spirit resist while active

7.) Is a larger investment in spirit, providing more Spirit power

8.) Provides CDR

As a final reminder, Torment Pulse is a 27 damage pulse every 1.4 seconds, meaning it's roughly 19 DPS. It's damage scales with 28% of your spirit power, meaning it can get upwards of maybe an extra 56 damage per pulse (at 200 spirit power, an incredibly large investment) bringing it up to 60 DPS. Transcendent CD can bring this CD to .98s, which brings it's DPS up to about 85 at 200 spirit power. An enemy would only need 2428HP in order for Scourge to do as much DPS as Torment Pulse does at those values (and we are favoring Torment Pulse pretty heavily because 200 is an INCREDIBLE amount of Spirit power especially for a hero who wants to be primarily in melee range. Not unattainable, but rare. At 32 boons with Boundless spirit, maximum Spirit investment[4 T4 Spirit items or more] and no Bonus Spirit urns, heroes end up at about 150 Spirit.)

So... yeah, even giving Torment Pulse the Benefit of the doubt the math just doesn't math here.

But since you're convinced that Torment Pulse is better than Scourge, you'll continue doing what you do regardless of the facts I present. You play the game how you want, but don't try to pretend that Scourge isn't basically a T4 version of Torment Pulse, because it is.

nothing prevents you from having scourge and a t4 version of torment pulse, just because scourge exists doesn't mean there can't be another item, otherwise half of the items in the game wouldn't have a reason to exist, since there are several items that do the same as other items.

an upgrade to torment pulse could be damage done by torment pulse builds up a stored aoe, but it goes off automatically as additional damage to enemies and YOURSELF, but also decays with time if no pulses do damage. Probably too strong though. HELLO VICTOR DID YOU JUST KILL YOURSELF AGAIN?!

The upgrade could turn torment pulse into an aoe blast? So instead of hitting 2 enemies, it hits everybody around you?

Then either faster ticks, or damage per tic increases the longer its active.

Nothing prevents you from buying current torment and scourge either. An upgraded torment would just be a ripoff unless if it was made intentionally OP.
