Introducing WICKERMAN

I've provided an overview image below but I'll post the abilities in plain forum post text as well.

Abilities:

1. Forest Thinning
Swing the axe in a narrow cone in front of you.
Dealing 65 damage immediately, followed by 50 damage over 2 seconds.

2. Spontaneous Combustion

Suddenly explode dealing 60 damage around you and, hurling you in the direction of your movement key input. If no input then fly upwards.

Little to no control of movement once you're off the ground.

3. Fire Fighting
Passive
: Bullets apply Sizzle. Dealing 4% max HP over 6 seconds. Consecutive hits reset the duration.

Active: Throw a fire grenade dealing 40 damage on direct hit.

Breaks on impact to splash water in a large area, does nothing without Sizzle.

Any enemies with Sizzle get scorched with steam. Taking 30 damage and replacing Sizzle with Agony, adding damage amp from all sources of damage.

4. Scorched Earth

Create a large charred forest with spectral trees.
Applies constant Sizzle to all enemies in the zone.

Wickerman burns brighter and moves very quickly while in the zone.

If shot or hit while in the zone, Wickerman will Flare Up. Dealing damage around him and healing for some portion of the damage taken.
1.5 second cooldown (Flare Up)


Gun:

Fires slow-traveling flares with drop off. Encouraging shotgun range use for easy of use. Can be shot far but hard to hit.

The flare lingers on the ground for 0.5 seconds. (Deals no direct damage but can apply Sizzle)

- Cannot headshot.
- Max Ammo instead increases the size of the flare.
- Fire Rate instead increases Reload Speed

for his 2, it'd be cool if his flying animation was some somewhat chaotic scrambling through the air, chaining into a short roll/recovery on landing continuing your movement in that direction slightly. (with the exception of being launched straight into the air)

I did imagine some sort of chaotic tumbling through the air too, would be sick
 
Fantastic idea! When you say he burns brighter in his ult, though, is that just cosmetic or does it serve a gameplay purpose?
The brighter burning is just a cosmetic part, but works as another clear indicator of when you're in the Scorched Earth zone and thus getting buffed

I'm adding an alternate version of Sizzle.

Passive: Bullets apply Sizzle. Wickerman's Bullets always crit on hitting an enemy with Sizzle.
(Bodyshots count as headshots)
 
Adding an alt-fire to Wickerman's gun Will-o':

Alt Fire:

Cause a flare to miss-fire, shooting a cone of flare shrapnel.

- Higher damage, crits on targets with Sizzle
- Short but wide cone of damage
- Shorter reload time
 
Updated the persentation with several new elements. Fleshing Wickerman's personality out some more and adding more ability illustrations.

Thanks for taking the time to reply with so much work put in.

Wickerman's Role
I have to say that a lot of these suggestions would make Wickerman much less of a frontliner. Losing the axe chop from Forest Thinning makes him much less of a threat close up. Replacing it with tree chopping also makes him thematically much less maniacal and freaky. The idea with the name and theme of the ability is that he treats you like a tree that needs chopping. Also losing the Flare up effect from Wickerman's ultimate Scorched Earth again makes him much less of a frontliner, losing the upclose retaliation damage and the heal it provides.

I'm also not a fan of removing Sizzle as a mechanic as I think it has potential for interesting interplay with his kit (alt fire and fire grenade). How sizzle interracts and what its exact effect is I'm still down to consider changes on.

On "Fire Grenade"
Also changing the fire fighter equipment "fire grenade" and replacing it with a generic fire explosion (which seems like what you're suggesting) seems a shame to me, it would take away from his themes and identity.


On "Burning Tree"
The burning tree idea is interesting but sounds very clunky to use, a lot of set up and requiring enemies to stay put in the same place for a fairly long time, without a kit that has any CC.

What I definetly will consider though, is the idea of having an ability replaced with a different one, as part of a "combo ability."

I did have some ideas before posting Wickerman's kit to the forums. Where I wanted him to chop the spectral trees in his ult for some effect, be it healing or damage, but it all seemed too clunky or overcomplicated.

On "Engulfed in Flame"
I don't have much to say here except that I'm not a fan. The idea of Schorched Earth is to basically become a raid boss for a duration within his own territory. Where fighting him is dangerous. Engulfed Flame seems to me to be just for his own fire power with not much going on.

Closing thoughts
I haven't added any upgrades (T1,T2,T3 AP upgrades) yet so I appreciate the ideas you give here, I'll see what I'll land on in the end there.

Even though I don't agree with much of what you suggested, I appreciate that you took the time and show interest! Thanks again!
