Meant to be a not durable healer who thrives at being the back line support
Backstory: (M)
Ixians are a hardy bunch. They’ve been through many a conflict in their lives. Some have accepted their place in America, while others chose to stay in their home plane. Despite the raging Ixian War, many were happy with their current state in life.
Not for Warren, however.
After serving in Ixia’s armies for generations, he had to retire due to old age. Even so, his old war bones still want a taste of the action. Seeing the war in Ixia has made one thing clear; If the Friends of Humanity have anything to say about Ixia, it’s likely awful. Concerned for the rest of his countrymen, he heard of a legend that only happens every 50 years and went to investigate. He may be out of his prime, but that doesn’t mean he can’t contribute to saving his people.

Not for Ember, however
Her grandfather was a war veteran of many generations and taught her stories about how resilient Ixians are. How nothing could ever phase them. How they would always reign supreme and could never be defeated. How her father was the best of his generation and would come home triumphant. Yet doubt lingered in her mind. If they were always the best and brightest, why were they annexed to the United States? Why did they need foreign aid to help with the current Ixian War? She needed to find her own answers.
When delving through some books, she heard tell of the Patrons, those who could grant any wish when summoned. While dangerous, this could be the key to stopping the Ixian War. Imagine how proud her father would be if she was the reason he got to come to home. Seeing her opportunity while not trying to arouse suspicion, she applied to Columbia College and got accepted. With her path to New York clear, all she needed to do now was snoop around to find the key to saving Ixia.
I have two stories in case the cast needs a certain type of character, but both are meant to be Phoenixes as a result of Ixians being able to control fire. I don’t have any sketches or designs for either story as a result of not knowing what traditional Ixian wear looks like. The ideal color scheme would be orange and gray, as I don’t want to take away from Infernus by having another character with a similar palette while still tying back to the roots of Ixians.
Ability 1:
Fire Arrow (20 second cooldown)
Launches an arrow forward, gaining Bullet damage with distance traveled. If the arrow hits an ally, they are healed instead. 15% Bonus Damage on Headshot. Starts with 1 Charge
Base Damage 40 min 80 max
Base Heal 20 min 40 max
Tier 1: + 1 extra charge
Tier 2: - 8 second cooldown
Tier 3: Arrows now leave an AOE that hurts foes and heals allies at 15% effectiveness
This is meant to function similarly to the crusader’s crossbow from TF2. Good artists borrow great artists steal. Whether the arrow should do bullet or spirit damage I’m unsure on because I want the flexibility to have a more gun focused or spirit focused build. It’d be much easier to make everything spirit and call it a day, but that might make things a bit too top heavy.
Ability 2:
Phoenix Wings (30 second cooldown)
9 m range
3 m radius
Use Phoenix Wings to jump into the air, dealing Spirit Damage to nearby enemies.
Base Damage 60
Tier 1: -10 second cooldown
Tier 2: +50 base damage
Tier 3: Gain the option to slam down after rising, dealing damage 300 damage in an AOE
The idea behind this one was to have an instant vertical option comparable to a warp stone angled up or many other abilities that go in a straight line forwards. The idea with making it vertical is to not stay on the ground to give better angles for your 1, fit the idea of a Phoenix, as well as make you worse at running away in a flat area. You can still get to high rises and the like and go from there, but it’s significantly harder to utilize than a dash forward when escaping from enemies or dealing damage.
Ability 3:
Heat Wave (40 second cooldown)
Release an expanding heat wave that deals Spirit Damage and Heals allies within the radius.
9 m radius
Base Damage 60
Base Healing 50
Tier 1: -10 second cooldown
Tier 2: +40 damage, +30 healing
Tier 3: On use, you and allies within the radius gain 3m/s movement and 30% fire rate for 7 seconds.
This is mean to be a combination of Cold Front and Heroic Aura. Either use it near allies to buff or versus enemies to deal damage. The concern is that the damage is so paltry compared to the healing it’s always correct to use it defensively. Heroes have abilities that also are items, such as Calico having an aggressive E shift for her ult and Dynamo having a scaling health nova on his 3.
Ability 4:
Phoenix Reborn (120 second cooldown)
You and nearby Allies get 10% bonus fire rate, 1 m/s bonus move speed, 10 spirit, 15% bullet lifesteal and 15% spirit lifesteal. While this ability is active, it drains your health for 5% per second. Max duration is 15 seconds. This ability cannot kill you if you are at 1 HP.
Radius for buff is 15 meters
Tier 1: Radius increased by 5 meters
Tier 2: Health drain reduced to 3.5% per second
Tier 3: -30 second cooldown
Phoenixes are a symbol of rebirth, so the idea was why not have an install super that supercharges your allies? The exact specifics will need to be worked out, but the things I want to keep as a whole are the lifesteal and life drain. It gives it an interesting play pattern of “if you want to keep the buff you have to contribute” as well as keeps the ability balanced around how tanky you are as a unit. It is also meant to play on either an old man who literally can’t keep doing this forever or a young girl who is getting used to her powers not understanding how to wield it properly.
