I've been recently obsessed with deadlock (recently as in since the shop update) and have been wondering about what potential character I would make if I were to make a deadlock character, This is my outlet to tell the void about my idea and have no one hear or care about it!
The Character Concept:
Street Tagging Graffiti Artist, ever wonder why there's grafiti? Thank this guy. I don't have photos because I have poor artistic abilities but the description would be a face mask wearing, rollerblade skating, Hooded figure that wields wires connected to spraypaint cans and throwing knives.
Tagger has either inherent or gained magnetic push and pull, so Tagger uses metal knives and lead paint to use their ability to it's fullest extent.
The idea of the character would be a mobile engage support that applies debuffs and DoTs that weaken the enemy team but don't kill them unless they were already low.
Vague Stats:
Lowered Stamina (2 instead of 3)
Increased Movespeed
Higher light melee damage but same heavy melee as most of the cast
Low HP (650 Starting HP with similar scaling to Paige Mina Wraith etc.)
The Gun:
Low Ammo Low Damage "Gun"
Starting magazine is 4, Left click throws out a dagger that lingers where it hits. Right click pulls back all thrown knives dealing damage on pull back (With potential for scaling pull back depending on if it's both fun to use and not super busted to mess with people's momentum)
I assume the damage and scaling would be low
Ability 1: Spraypaint Grenade
Initial fire throws the can, alt fire rolls it along the ground
The Spraypaint Grenades leave paint where-ever they explode or roll along, painted terrain speeding up allies walking on it (Including minions!)
It also applies a debuff called Lead Poisoning, Lowing movespeed when running from Tagger by 20% and applying a 2% current HP Spirit Damage DoT
Tier 1 Upgrade: Gives the ability 1 charge
Tier 2 Upgrade: Painted ground gives allies standing on it increased resistances (Maybe 10% spirit and bullet resist?)
Tier 3 Upgrade: Allows the DoT to be stacked infinitely (The movement speed slow is capped at 60%)
Ability 2: Clear the Canvas
Pull the Lead Poisoning debuff off every afflicted individual and give yourself and allies increased movespeed equal to how many Enemy heroes were affected by this debuff. When this is done to jungle mobs and minions it deals high spirit damage to them and doesn't give a speed boost
Tier 1 Upgrade: Gives a regeneration effect that heals 30 + .34% Spirit Power HP when using Clear the Canvas. Every additional stack of the debuff cleared gives more healing but is capped to 6 stacks.
Tier 2 Upgrade: Even more movespeed when using this move
Tier 3 Upgrade: Clearing 3 debuffs or more roots all enemies for half a second.
Ability 3: Passive - Rollerskates
Gain 10% Movespeed (applies after all other movement speed bonuses)
Maybe lower traction to make the character slip around a bit?
Additional bonus of sliding down slopes giving more speed and Tagger could keep increased speed for longer without slowing?
And most importantly - The ability to wallride, allowing Tagger to intentionally skate along walls and round corners while wall riding to keep stuck to a building
Tier 1 Upgrade: Ability to jump off people's heads. cause it's funny
Tier 2 Upgrade: Jumping ontop of debuffed enemies deals damage relatively equal to Ability 1 hitting them.
Tier 3 Upgrade: Moving at a high speed creates a trail that allows your allies to follow you for increased movespeed and stamina regeneration!
Ultimate: Spray n' Pray
Pull yourself into the air and begin unloading a ton of spray paint onto the ground, Like a bebop ult but more so painting the ground and applying your first ability's debuff to as many people as you can!
I would imagine it wouldn't deal high damage but more so a slow constant tick while you're being sprayed.
Tier 1 Upgrade: Painting Allies heals them, a base Medium amount followed by smaller constant healing if they are constantly being sprayed
Tier 2 Upgrade: Duration increased by 2 seconds and Spray Paint affects a bigger area.
Tier 3 Upgrade: At the end of your ultimate you dive into the ground below you doing a big AOE, healing allies and damaging enemies caught in the blast. If tier 3 of Spraypaint Grenades is reached, this would add another stack of the DoT Debuff onto enemies.
Rambling:
Obviously this character idea, may not fit the theme of deadlock or vibes but honestly it was a lot of fun working on this so far while I was bored at work. My original idea for the character was a thief who's first ability was a dash with charges that could reset it's dash's cooldown between charges whenever it strikes an enemy minion or jungle camp and it's passive ability stole 50 souls from the enemy everytime they were hit by Tagger's (then called thief's) abilities but then I realized "Wait no that's kinda busted and unfun cause by the end of laning phase if the ability is a little too strong Thief will always be ahead if they landed some abilities and went even." and if it doesn't give a lot of souls then it won't matter if they gained 10 extra souls per ability. Also according to leaks Fencer might have multiple short dashes and that soured my mood on the original idea but! I like Tagger as they are now!
Character's Identity within the world at large: I'd imagine Tagger would be a background character, one mainly seen through their expression of art but would occasionally appear as a easter egg in background art. Their personality more akin to a skittish cat than a rebel fighting against the world, Tagger would likely try to be polite in most situations but not stand out unless he's given a chance to share his heart (or art).
I'd imagine Tagger would have a connection with billy too, be it they hate each other, are friends, or acquaintances through an incident involving the murder of a pi- I mean cop.
Reason for why they're participating in the ritual? well idgaf but if I had to make one up I'd say something like "Tagger's legacy will carry through new york for a while, but their art and their name will eventually die out and be forgotten. Though not selfish Tagger would like everyone the opportunity to leave their mark on this world and to be remembered till even the patrons wither away."
Closing Statements: Hi thanks for listening to me ramble about an OC I made out of passion. I'm not a particularly interesting person but I hope someone at valve sees this character concept and considers it for a fraction of a second (though tbh this character would probably be unbalanced as shit with some items like Spirit Burn or maybe I didn't realize how good the concept for his gun could be given some circumstances), I also definitely could've simplified the descriptions of abilities yet I like providing details. None the less Thank you for reading this effectively rough draft and byebye!
