Hero Concept: Runescape-man

So I've thought about this hero concept before for Dota and since the release of Largo aand Kez, I can now fit this hero into a more appropriate game setting perhaps... however this 'hero' design could still fit in Dota but will be written for Deadlock.

This hero design will be taking inspiration from both oldschool-style combat and runescape 3 ability bar combat.



Hero Concept: Runescape-man


Design:

1 - style ability 1, with alt-casts. Shares cooldown with other style ability slot.

2 - style ability 2, with alt-casts. Shares cooldown with other style ability slot.

3 - Switch styles, like Kez/Brewmaster. Able to switch weapon and abilities.

4 - Prayer Menu, like Largo. Able to toggle on a different prayer that drains 0.25 stamina. drains with a 3-tick timer and can prayer-flick.


Weapons: (depending on the style and index?) 2-handed Sword or Sword & shield, Dual crossbow or Bow & Arrow, Magic Staff & book or Wand and shield.

Default weapon: Melee, Sword & Shield.




Range Combat Style

Range-style:


1 - Shackleshot.

Windranger/Windrunner Shackleshot

1 - Alt-cast - Acorn shot

Hoodwink acorn shot. Plants a tree like how Skyrunner plants a Steel beam, but only on the floor.

2 - Tar bomb.

Clinkz tar bomb. Sets the arrows on fire and adds damage. Also has a slow element and good for last hitting.

Magic Combat Style

Magic-style:

1 - Ice Barrage

1 - Alt-cast - Special Attack / Dragon's Breath?

Melee Combat Style

Melee-style: during the melee-style, the hero will be entirely melee.

When wielding the 2-handed sword, the LMB would do a quick "long range" melee and the RMB would do a slow AOE heavy melee.

When wielding the Sword & Shield, the LMB would do a quick, small "AOE" melee and the RMB would trigger the shield and reduce incoming damage in the front like Mars.

1 - Barge

Point target - Doesn't require a target. Moves the unit in the facing direction at a fast speed then attack in an area when reaching destination. Can be stunned/immobolized.

1 - Alt-cast - Surge

Point target - Doesn't require a target. Teleports the unit in the moving/vector direction. Cannot be stunned/immobolized and can be used to disjoint projectiles.

2 - Cleave
Charged-based. Quick heavy melee in a 'long range' cone.

2 - Alt-cast - Hurricane
Charged-based. Quick Heavy melee in an AOE. The character does like a sweep with their sword weapon.

3 Ability - Switch Style

3 - Switch style

Like Brewmaster/Kez. The 3 ability lets the hero toggle between different stances/styles which changes their weapon and abilities.

When pressing the ability or switching a style, it refreshes 0.5 stamina.

Toggling to switch a style grants a small bonus depending on the weapon equipped.

Melee, Sword & Shield.

Grants a small boost of movement speed for a short duration and triggers sprint immediately.

Range, Bow & Arrow.

Grants a small boost of cast range and attack range for a short duration.

Range, Staff & Book.

Grants a small boost of spirit and cooldown reduction for a short duration.

Melee, 2-handed Sword

Grants a small boost of damage and damage reduction for a short duration.

Range, Dual Crossbows.

Grants a +1 stamina maximum stamina for a short duration.

Range, Wand & Shield.

Grants a small boost of spirit armour and status resistance for a short duration.


4 Ability - Prayer Menu

4 - Prayer Menu ...

Like Largo. 4 to open menu, 4 to close prayer menu.

When a prayer is toggled, Prayer will drain 0.25 stamina on a 3-tick system. The player may player-flick to not spend the stamina.

While a prayer is active, there will be a very visible icon above the player's model.

1 - Protect from Missiles
(Magic/Spirit). Reduce damage from spirit/magic from 50%/75%/90%/100%.


2 - Protect from Projectiles
(Range/Bullets). Reduce damage from incoming projectiles from 50%/75%/90%/100%.


3 - Protect from Melee
(Melee). Reduce damage from melee from 50%/75%/90%/100%.

Edit:

When the player switches stances/styles/weapons, their armor is also changing which will also give them dynamic passive defensive bonuses depending on the combat style. It should be like the combat style...


Melee style: Suit of armor - weak to magic/spirit. strong against melee/range/bullets.

Magic style: Magical Robes - weak to range/guns. provides no defensive bonuses.

Range style: Ranging gear - weak to melee. strong against magic/spirit.
