Backstory: The Grim Reaper is no mere legend. An ever-present force, the inevitability of death was absolute and unshaking... until the maelstrom. Now cheating death has become surprisingly common. Immortality, unnatural vigor, even returning from the grave. After aeons of a perfect track record, death is losing influence quickly, and the reaper is displeased. Stepping out from the great beyond, Death has taken a material form, and is ready to begin bringing back lost souls and claim some that are well overdue.

Appearance: Death is still getting used to having a physical form and lacks some of the grace that is typically associated with his myth. An awkwardly assembled skeleton in shabby New York attire that one can only guess was taken from a dumpster or some sort of second hand shop. Death carries a coffin around with him. In spite of it all, the green glow in his empty eye sockets can still make a person's hair stand on end.

Primary weapon [Dirge]: Death has taken inspiration from some of the great artists and inventors he's carried to the other side and has crafted Dirge, the large coffin he carries around with him. The coffin opens up in firing form to reveal a large minigun, with a very high fire rate and large magazine but low individual bullet damage and pretty terrible accuracy. Reloads by resealing the coffin and having souls drawn into it.

Ability 1 - Reaping
Death transforms dirge into a scythe and slashes forward, dealing 2% of the target's max HP and applying a stacking debuff that deals damage over time to heroes hit and healing Death by a percentage of the damage dealt.

Upgrade 1: Grants ability charges
Upgrade 2: Reduces cooldown and improves damage over time
Upgrade 3: Upgrades base damage to 5% target's max HP

Ability 2 - Soul Ward
Channeled ability. Death places his coffin in front of himself and opens it into a spirit shield. Attacks that pass through the shield have 20% reduced damage, the shield fires small homing soul bolts back at the attacker and Dirge's magazine refills a bit with each blocked attack (can exceed max magazine capacity up to a point). Soul bolts deal minor spirit damage. Movement speed drops by 30% while Soul Ward is active. Soul bolt's damage and the shield's size have spirit scaling.

Upgrade 1: Movement speed drop decreases from 30% to 20%
Upgrade 2: Increase the shield area by 15%
Upgrade 3: Damage reduction increased from 20% to 35%

Ability 3 - Soul collector (passive)
Each time a hero dies in proximity to death (ally or enemy), death gains a stacking buff that increases his movement speed, spirit and weapon damage, and HP regen by a small amount. Loses 3 stacks on death.

Upgrade 1: Increases the base damage of reaping by .2% per stack of Soul Collector death has.
Upgrade 2: Lose only 2 stacks on death
Upgrade 3: Death gains 1 soul per stack every 3 seconds.

Ability 4 - Reaper's Claim
Death takes on his mythological form, and swings his scythe in a small arc forward. Enemy heroes hit by it have the debuff "Reaper's Claim" placed on them and a visual indicator placed on their back. This debuff can only be removed if the affected hero kills another hero, or if Death himself dies. The debuff lasts 5 minutes and at its end, the affected target is instantly killed. Dying by other means does not purge the debuff but does reset its timer.

Upgrade 1: Cooldown reduction
Upgrade 2: If the debuff is purged, deal large but nonlethal spirit damage.
Upgrade 3: The debuff's timer is lowered to 3 minutes.

Once again I'm driven more by character interactions. Death telling Seven that even if he completes the ritual, Seven won't be safe from Death. Implying with Dynamo that he lost more than his body in the astral gate. Giving advice to Kelvin in regards to his rock. Taunting Lady Geist. Threatening Lash and Lash saying "Death is for losers and The Lash *whip crack* is a winner, baby." Chastising Vindicta for being one of the early ones that "got away", but he's thrilled she's doing such a good job all the same. Having a fun chat with McGinnis about their respective guns. In most talks, Death typically maintains the upper hand in discussions, cackles frequently, and generally assures them that working with him to collect their opponents might warm him up into delaying collecting on them.

Really wish I had some art skills to back this up. Thought about recording some voice lines for the guy myself. If y'all like the idea let me know but I won't apologize if they're cringe.

As always appreciate feedback.
