game file corruption and file integrity scan not functioning

When i was in game, the game crashed due to a missing file or corruption and had to do a file integrity scan, which did not function. I had to restart steam 3 time for the scan to actually function, other wise it would sit at zero percent. This also lead to me being punished with a low matchmaking priority due to the game corruption.

side note: maybe add some function to the game that allows it to detect if the game crashed so that the user doesn't get punished for no reason.

I think the game does at least pause updates if you are in the middle of a match? So if you crash midgame, and there's a new update, you wont be forced to update and then not be able to get back in.

Sorry your game got corrupted mid game. Any idea why? Computer, network or steam issue?

ive seen some others that have had this issue before, but not ones that caused them to be punished

I had this issue last night, my theory is that people may have (understandably) reported for leaving. I may possibly do the same in their position at.

With how common crashing is with Deadlock, I typically wait until the end of the game to possibly report leavers if it isn't an undeniable rage quit. If they were communicating and being friendly the whole time, it's more likely a bug/crash reason. It has crashed at the most inopportune times or when ult's start going off in bigger battles.

It's annoying to deal with, but I'm also glad the system is there in place. Would like the toxic players and time-wasters to be weeded out. I just wanna have fun, even if losing.

Another potential thing I could see happening is running into a party of people who all report a single person. A quick amount or number of reports in a time span probably automatically triggers.

It'd be nice if there was a way to report crashes with more specific error codes so the gamedevs at least have some sort of data point of potential things to look at. Unless there's one they have internally/different process. There's a lot of data to sift through already, adding more could just make it more difficult.

I had this like a month ago, and got a 30 min ban. Had to uninstall and reinstall (after trying many many things). For a few weeks i did verify file integrity every update even 1kb ones as was paranoid but some time since i just stopped verifying and its been fine ever since
