Fails to Launch on Debian Trixie

I just upgraded my graphics card to an AMD Sapphire Pulse 9070 XT 16GB. I'm dual booting, and the game runs flawlessly at max on Windows 10. However, I cannot launch the game on a fresh install of Debian 13 (which is currently unreleased, but recently froze for testing.) My previous Debian 12 install doesn't seem to support the card, but could launch Deadlock with poor performance on my old NVidia card.

When I launch the game on Steam, it says it's "Running", but I don't see any windows open, or even any running processes that look like the game. This happens regardless of if I don't set compatibility settings, if I use Proton GE, Proton Experimental, Proton Hotfix, or Proton 9.04.

If I use Steam Linux Runtime 1.0 (Scout), it silently fails to launch, but does not show as "Running" on steam, it simply goes back to the "Play" button after trying to launch.

If I use Legacy Runtime I get an error message complaining that it can't find the `.../win64/deadlock.exe` (expected, but mentioning just in case.)

Other games appear to have no issues with the graphics card on Debian (but Deadlock is the most modern game I've tried yet by far, I'll update this if I see anything similar in other games.)

Let me know if there's any tricks I could try, or logs I could hunt down, or if I should pass this issue to the Debian team in some form - thanks!

I have the same problem, using an AMD 5700XT on Debian Trixie. I don't play much so I'm not sure when it started. I have a few kernels packages installed, and tried booting from older ones:

linux-image-6.12.27-amd64 - doesn't work
linux-image-6.12.17-amd64 - doesn't work
linux-image-6.11.5-amd64 - works

I tried CS2 and it works fine on the 6.12 kernels.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to get it working by using old kernels (from snapshot.debian.org). I couldn't get "linux-image-6.11.5-amd64" exactly for some reason, but I was able to try "linux-image-6.11.10-amd64" and "linux-image-6.11.4-amd64" to no avail. I also tried a very old "linux-image-6.1.0-amd64", but that doesn't even appear to support this card at all.

I've tested the recently-updated Dota2 with no issues on this kernel, so I think it's something on Deadlock's end, but who knows.

Thanks for your help!

I definitely did the sequence of update game -> no screen appears on 6.12 --> boot into the same installation with 6.11 and it worked, but I've just tried again and getting the same issue with 6.11 as well - sorry for the bad info.

I haven't tried clearing any caches yet or anything.
