happens when i had a ping spike. i disconnected from the game and the cursor went on instead of being a crosshair. needed to restart the whole game.

Did you Alt+Tab and/or Open Steam Overlay during this time?
Sometimes that causes the mouse cursor to sit on top of the crosshair
