Bebop Bomb Ability Negated / "Ghost Bomb" / "Phantom Bomb"

There is an issue with Bebop's bomb ability being cancelled by enemy dash & ability inputs. As you can see in the video, there is a particular window of time where if you use Bebop's bomb right after the enemy uses a dash (or in some cases also their abilities), it will just cancel Bebop's bomb completely and refund it back to Bebop (like not consuming the ability charge).

Granted, although this is reproduceable, the timing is somewhat tight. However, its still enough I was able to reproduce it twice in a row in the last clip of the video. When in a game, it's extremely frustrating when I'll sometimes lose a lane because I get unfortunate and have 3 different bombs get cancelled on me during the laning phase.

Notes: From what I can tell, this has nothing to do with distance of the players from each other, only timing of inputs. Also, when performed successfully, it seems you can only hear the sound of the phantom bomb on the client side of the Bebop, not the enemy (at least thats the result from the 15-20 minutes of testing it). Tested with a friend, and it was reproduceable both ways.

Great work testing this to get to the bottom of it,
But, I think its latency related, I'm playing some bebop lately and usually have 90+ms latency, and this issue happens quite often in real matches,

I'd usually say I agree, but I have an average of 30ms latency which is usually pretty trivial for something like this

Isn't this that the bomb has a short cast time? Or that is what I always thought and a bit unfair tbh because you hear the sound and then you press echo charge because you think it landed.

I wonder if it's related to heroes turning untargetable. could also be triggering a false latency compensation? just slightly educated guesses as I know barely anything of the source2 engine

Nothing to do with cast time as I understand it. Made sure not to use echo shard during casting, and it would only happen during the short time frame of dashing. Both before and after dashes, if would you were early or late on that time frame, it would still cast correctly
