Bad Matchmaking Thread

49389543 i hope matchmaking caused people to rage quit, this is just bad
Until people just stop playing or whole team work together to boycott unbalanced matches then nothing will be done. Even then, nothing will probably be done. This is very typically of valve games. Pretty much what they are known for.

Another day, another reminding valve that win-based matchmaking is fucking stupid and heavily punishes characters who can't take towers, and then subsequently everyone they get matched with. This was for the ornament quest by the way, not a character I play ever.

I really wish there were a queue mode or a setting where I could opt in to wait a long time—say, 5, 10, 20, or even 30–40 minutes—for a match with minimal imbalance. I’d gladly wait if the system assembled fair and comparable teams: if I queue solo, then the enemy team should also consist of solo random players with no premade groups; if I’m in a party, then the opponents should either be a similar-sized party or at least have a comparable number of grouped players (for example, 2 in a party vs. 2 in a party, and the rest solo).

If you’d also use a setting like this—please show your support with a like!

They can't do this. Then groups wouldn't get games they could stomp and have "fun" they would only play against other groups and that wouldn't be fun for them. They would just make smurf accounts anyways. Until they actually just ban all level 0-3 steam accounts less than 6 months old with no other game hours above 25 hours, a purchase of some sort, and block private accounts nothing will change.

my goal is to make the game as miserable for other players due to unbalanced matchmaking. Hoping they uninstall

During peak hours, this is absolutely feasible. All I’m asking for is a chance to trade my time for a fair, properly balanced game.

Trying to play with a new player, and we're getting stomped by 60k souls, not even a chance. They could've won in 15-20 minutes, but they drew it out pretty badly.

49415043 bot team died 20 times in 10 minutes, actually worse than bots, couldnt even get guardians. Looks like it is the first time for many of them using a pc. waste of 30 minutes

49418117 got stuck with the same bots somehow, team unable to put out any damage and game is over in 20 minutes. Brain dead team did their very best to lose, actually worse than bots

49420104 When one player holds the lobby hostage and doesn't get banned despite very clearing doing this before, something is wrong with matchmaking. Wake up and actually do an MMR reset or start permabanning these trolls.

Use this thread to share matchids for games that you think the matchmaker did a bad job at. If you can explain what you felt was a problem in it that would be helpful as well.

Do not post matchids for games that were within the past 24 hours from this post. Games older than that are fine and games going forward are fine.

Thanks for the help

One of my multiple lobbies in the past week where I'm placed against people who have somewhat proficiency with the character they're playing (or their character is so easy and simplistic to pilot that there is no learning curve), whereas my team is full of first timers. Just admit, this event challenge was lazy and poorly thought out. You had to have known this was going to absolutely desecrate the already poor matchmaking quality this game had. Issues that could all be fixed if you used some common sense and add a drafting system, something that should have existed from launch.

Games this bad should make you feel ashamed of yourselves, Valve. People who are clearly new against smurfs and aimbots. 7 to 64 in the kills. That's almost 10:1.
Deadlock devs might be some of the laziest, most incompetent dev team I've seen in quite some time. This is the shit I expect from NetEase, not Valve.

Not a fan of harking on things like this but the game had 3 teammates feed for over 40 minutes. Their builds didn't make sense at all to the point where it was borderline throwing. Not sure if it's the holiday event or just players not performing well in general, but this came after a long slew of awful matchmaking where players left or similarly threw (I performed poorly in some of them to be fair here, but not for the majority). The Steam blackout was also a culprit in this.

Average rank for this match is almost 4 full divisions below mine: I'm currently high-Oracle/low-Phantom and the match was Ritualist 4. I played my top rated character as well, which was shortly top 500 in NA. In these situations even if you play flawlessly there is just nothing you can do. I had full trophy collector stacks by the 25 minute mark. Regardless, and whether it's the event or something else, this makes me not even want to touch the game.

In general - just to add a note here - I definitely feel like the current matchmaking punishes experimentation and that this event highlighted this issue. This is a shame given the game is still in development. I'm not a sucker for rank, but I definitely have noticed massive shifts in enjoyment as I play in lower MMRs. Climbing as a support player is rough.

Chained losses are punished more heavily than consecutive wins in my experience, with most of my matches placing me towards the upper middle, or higher, of the match's average rank. This would be alternative to being placed at the bottom of the average and having higher ranked teammates join, if that even matters. Just my 2 cents.
