Bad Matchmaking Thread

Thank you Valve employees for reading this thread regularly and at least making sure you're giving us an official well-written explanation about why your matchmaking makes your "game" unplayable, even though you can't fix it yet because figuring out the heroes' pronouns obviously takes a priority in these dark times that are a threat to our democracy.
You're not entirely right — the main priority for Valve employees right now is to update the Cheat Death icon for the umpteenth time. After all, why fix matchmaking for regular players when there's feedback from the test server?

probably the last i'm ever posting here because the situation is pretty obvious, i imagine the matchmaking is just not top of the list issues-wise but a literal second game player in this match is not kino

There are players who shouldn't be matched like that... Game imbalance, like the vast majority of matches I'm seeing, a 50/50.

Do not put solo queue players against duo queue players. It makes for unfair matchmaking. https://statlocker.gg/profile/361646659/matches https://statlocker.gg/profile/1117527892/matches These two players are purposefully using matchmaking to get solo queue players against them so that they have an advantage. 43098021 @Yoshi, you have done nothing for the regular player base, but catered to the pros. I just had to recommend someone against being introduced to this game because of all the faults that makes the game absolutely trash to deal with.

How the fuck is this matchmaking?

Observe the 7200 damage Victor. How about the seven on the other side.

Arcanist II vs Arcanist IV.

Remind me that matchmaking is based on team wins right?

The best part is that these matches are all used for "data-driven scientific balancing of the game", and every month we get these tweaks "X now scales 1.4% instead of 1.2%" based on matches with people who somehow manage to die 11 times in the first 15 minutes. Do you really think either team is even looking at what's happening at that point? No SuRrEnDeR oPtIoN uwu because you they want mOrE dAtA, but asking about the quality of that data is above their paygrades I guess.

How in any way / shape / form am I stuck at Alchemist VI and this is supposedly a Arcanist IV match?

What the fuck all is my team doing except feeding? Who is possibly at a higher rank on my team than me? Im a backline damage dealer playing semi-conservatively and I have more damage than any of the idiots on my team?

Who on my team is pulling us up to an Arcanist IV match?

The shortbus ride never ends.

Did some research into all the users, except two who wouldn't show up on the website, on the enemy team through traclock.gg. While I know these websites aren't the most reliable with accurate skill rating, I needed context as to why I was being put into an Oracle 1 game two matches in a row with the first match being in Emissary 3 vs Oracle 1 and the second being in Archon 6 vs Oracle 1. While the second match doesn't seem that bad in comparison to the first, my personal skill rating is Arcanist 5 with my friend duo being Emissary 5, which again, I understand being put into a higher rank, but even for a supposed Oracle 1 average skill rating, my duo claimed that it did not feel like an Oracle 1 match (they've been ranked Oracle previously).

User "la passion", "Ruisu", and "Krillin" are a three stack. While Krillin and Ruisu showed some higher level of play, it was nowhere near as noticeable as la passion. After looking into their account, I've discovered that despite tracklock.gg claiming their average rating is Emissary 6, unlike Ruisu who's supposedly Archon 1 and Krillin who's Alchemist 4, la passion is actually an Eternus 6 player (their last Eternus match was 20 games ago). The reason their average matchmaking looks so low is because as soon as they started duoing with Ruisu (1 day after their last Eternus match) the average matchmaking has been shifting from high rank Archon to low rank Emissary.

This discrepancy is so egregious that for the first time I genuinely wanted to abandon a game. I can forgive it happening once, but twice in a row is so abysmal. I'm still learning the game and understanding itemization. Laning against, and getting stomped by someone who's actually an Eternus player who's playing in low rank because they're playing with friends (whether deliberately lowering their elo or not) does not feel good at all. They knew every abusable spot to ensure tower couldn't hit them while hitting the tower in return. They barely missed shots. Had nearly perfect positioning. It's just not fun.

Please find a way to remedy matchmaking like this. I have no qualms with high ranked players enjoying matches with their friends, but there needs to be at least something to keep an Eternus player from being matched with Archons and Emissarys.

there is a clear discrepancy in player skill levels. i noticed that every team tends to have 2-3 players who are lower skill, and the match is decided by whether the high skill ones can carry with their build

Unbalanced matches, in general. One team usually ends up negative and the other positive in stats, a bit unfair, sometimes it feels like poor matchmaking.
For example, in the last game (43144392), a drifter was killing us repeatedly, ending with 23 kills and only 3 deaths... My team all negative and the enemy team all positive, the same old story.
