The biggest fumble in the closed alpha was when matchmaking was first reworked. When the modes were separated everything worked infinitely better. Unranked was fine and was a good way to learn characters, items, strategies, etc and ranked was available at certain times so even if the player pool was small everyone would should up for 4 hours or so. All they had to do when the player pool got even smaller was give around 2 hours to play ranked and it would be a lot more understandable. Instead we got a bad solution at the time that was probably supposed to be a temporary fix which instead turned into the borderline unplayable system thats been in effect for 8 or 9 months.
