Anyone else getting bored of the heroes?

Deadlock is a great game, I always enjoy playing it, but at almost 200 hours I just don't feel compelled to grind any of the current heroes.

I've mained Vindicta, Talon, Viscous, Shiv, Pocket.... Nothing has ticked all of my boxes (with maybe the exception of Magician)...

* Mobility, smoothness, flashiness, micro-play

As a shameless League and hero-shooter enjoyer, I prefer a high emphasis on mechanics, and super flashy heroes that feel smooth and snappy, as opposed to Valve's macro-heaviness and gimmickiness. Call me a degenerate ADHD gamer, but I'm one of many.

Give me complicated heroes with tonnes of dashes and blinks, give me a high-APM hero who can out-mechanic any situation even when a bit behind, give me a limitless skill ceiling!

[I know I dont speak for all League players]

Although the base mobility of the game is high, even the most mobile characters [Lash, Pocket] have multiple abilities that root them in place and... it kinda ruins the "mobility hero" experience for me.

Now they're working on Viper, but being forced to constantly slide in order to have a usable gun just feels clunky and it misses the point of what makes mobile characters fun -- dynamism.

Like, what's the point of grinding a hero like that in 30+ minute matches, when the late-game hero fantasy still doesn't come close to say, one 10-minute match of playing Tracer in Overwatch?....

It's not that heroes don't feel powerful late-game, it's more that the power-spikes are so strong that it's kinda like the items / stats are playing the game for you.

You've definitely haven't maximized the full potential of mobility in this game if you're saying stuff like that. Go pick Haze, rush withering whip, and start dominating mid game if you think movement and mechanics are so easy and boring in this game. Then again, you think dash slides in this game are "clunky", so you'll probably end up feeding and going back to a predictable ult build.

I acknowledged that the base mobility is high for a MOBA, and I love that. But none of the characters satisfy the gameplay fantasy of a 'mobility hero' as I'm used to it, it's not that I want all of the characters to be more mobile.

Also I never said that dash sliding is clunky, I said Viper's kit feels clunky, which is a pretty popoular sentiment. I pointed this out because they're ostensibly a 'mobility hero' but do t satisfy me due to a lack of dynamism. It's gimmicky.

Haze seems incredibly boring to me and I have no interest in playing her. There's nothing flashy or mechanically interesting about her.

100% proof that you don't know what you're talking about. You have a lot to learn.

Riot games and "limitless skill ceiling"? Please, pick one or the other.
The Valve circlejerk is real. Why turn this into another tribalistic culture war? I wasn't even criticising Valve or the game, Ii'm just saying I haven't found my main yet, and this is what I'm looking for, here my reasons. More power to you if you love the current heroes, idgaf.
Teleporting around like a mosquito is a gimmick, and gimmicks are what Riot games are made up of
Valve good, Riot bad! I get it, no one cares.

You can call mobility a gimmick if you want, but there's a reason why it's popular -- people find it fun. That's all that matters to me.
Can you finish a book or do you usually get bored 1/3rd in?
If you want to make it personal, I'll bet money that my reading throughput is much higher than yours. lol.

But please, tell me more about how wonderful and infallible Valve is, it's so relevant.

You're the one who started fanboying for riot. Don't get surprised when people start flinging right back at you.

So mentioning the fact that I enjoy LoL is fanboying now? Lol

I was trying to pre-empt the inevitablwe comments of "you don't understand Valve...." blah blah blah. I don't care.

Deadlock works on Linux, LoL does not any more thx to rootkit malware from Riot.
This means that making comparisons between these two products is completely moot.
Oh my fucking god i'm not comparing them. Just forget I even mentioned League, it doesn't even matter.

I don't think Valve is infallible, I think Valve focus on different fundamentals to Riot and therefore make fundamentally different games. There's a reason nobody finds the gunplay of Valorant interesting but CS2, which is basically HLDM, is popular as ever.

Well, I don't play MOBA prior to this game so I know nothing about league at all but I do agree with OP that the heroes are getting boring. Don't get me wrong I also completely agree with the other reply that mentions this game has good fundamentals. Yeah the gunplay feels good for a long TTK game (which there isn't many alternative choices nowadays) and the movement feels really smooth with a lot of tricks. But the kit of many heroes just feels missing the point. They don't feel unique or interesting in a shooter game way. Many of the abilities feel like just press the button and then do a ton of damage instead of focusing on mechanics at all. It feels like it's all about numbers instead of mechanism. Also for many heroes their abilities don't really interact with each other or revolve around a core idea tightly enough, making them less unique and feel less smooth. You just use the abilities one by one instead of thinking about their synergy. Sorry I don't know how to describe this feeling accurately as my English is not great. But I can tell you I love paradox. She has such a useful kit set in all kinds of situations and every ability affects each other. I also really like the hero designs of the old Overwatch. Everyone has a unique feeling and core idea. I'm not saying Overwatch is great. I quitted that game long time ago and I don't know what Overwatch 2 has turned into so don't say I'm fanboying Overwatch lol.
