AN ACTUAL HEALER CHARACTER

OW's way of designing "supports" (aka heal bots) are objectively terrible design, especially for a game that's more complex than just your run of the mill hero shooter. Part of deadlock's appeal is that the non-carries aren't straight up heal bots.
 
I don’t know about this. I feel like having a dedicated healing character with low DPS similar to the Medic from Team Fortress 2 would essentially cripple a lane’s damage output, and maybe even stunt their upgrade potential. Plus, how is a medic character supposed to get points for upgrades? The reason Medic worked in TF2 is because he had a charge-up invulnerability ultimate, a neccesary play piece to dislodge enemy positions; that doesn’t exist in Deadlocked.
 
In deadlocks setup a character HAS to be able to deal damage and potentially 1v1 on their own, even if at a disadvantage to 1v1 type characters. A character that only heals would be such a liability on a team even if their healing was insane.
then just dont play it solo, the whole point of a healer is to fight with the team..... I do not understand how this isnt hard to understand...
 
Oh yeah, a healer hero in Deadlock sounds great. Because balancing one healing skill definitely hasn’t already required multiple rounds of nerfs. Surely an entire kit built around healing won’t completely break the game. Can’t wait to see how that goes.

And that kind of design just doesn't work in a game like Deadlock. You'd have to change so much about the base game in order to make a heal bot hero like mercy work in Deadlock. You'd basically be playing an entirely different game, just to enable an unpopular and frankly bland heal bot play style.
 
Yoshi(aka Icefrog as Dota2 designer) literally hates passive healbot supports tho. Look how dota's "Healers" work, they have major role alongside the heal bursts.
 
Not a very good idea. I feel like it would be absolutely detrimental and borderline unfun to get picked off in a 1v1 with nothing to fight back. The formula for support characters in the current game is already a solid way to balance damage and healing, in my opinion.
