Allow us to pass the urn like a football to teammates

You could also make it so the urn can be shot while the urn is thrown to make it fall to the ground. I could see urn run to be more like a more interesting game of football. I feel it would encourage sick play and more team play when running urn other than 1 person straight up running to the other side of the map. Like people would be like 'I need to pass the urn so I can ult' and enemies could intercept the urn by shooting it or touching it while it's being passed

This might be fun.

If a teammate catches the ball, there should be no channel time to pick the urn up.
But delivering the urn should again have a cooldown delivery time, maybe not as big as the old one, but current instant delivery is a bit broken imo.
 
This sounds fun for like...5 minutes, but if you think about it for longer than that, you realize this makes dealing with urn incredibly non-committal and less interactive. It makes it far less useful to melee someone for the urn, since they'll just chuck it before you can force them to drop it, making it difficult to intercept in transit.

It is also highly advantageous to air movement teams like Lash, Celeste, Viscous/Apollo to some extent, because catching the urn mid-air prevents the enemy team from intercepting it at the landing location.

Couple that with the need for the urn to come back down and you could theoretically throw it from one urn deposit to another simply by learning the throw angles at specific points-completely removing the team interaction & counterplay to the urn mechanic.

Full Disclosure-I don't like the urn mechanic as it exists in the game currently, and the objective needs an overhaul or change, but adding urn throwing into the mix would make it way worse.

You're acting like what you just described doesn't need a lot of team coordination and sound boring. Beside, ennemies can do the same thing as you to intercept it. And all of this is fixed by a simple achannel on the throw where the more you channel it the further it goes
 
Unless you have a hard cap on distance, a channel time isn't going to do anything.
If you limit the range of the throw, you make the mechanic less & less useful until its pointless.

2 people coordinating to completely invalidate the enemy team is not my idea of a well thought out team objective. People can already solo urn rush, just imagine how annoying it'll be when they can use momentum to throw the urn to themselves and avoid what little counterplay currently exists.
