Adjusting Video Settings in Practice Mode Leaves User Stranded after Applying Settings

I changed my preset from the default to highest quality and after applying settings it left me stuck at the menu with the game audio continuing. If I pressed ESCAPE, the mouse cursor would disappear and character's audio would continue. It seems like the menu overlay is stuck in place. I needed to force quit the game.
