Ability Bug – Input Shows but Ability Won’t Activate

Hey everyone,

I’ve been running into a frustrating glitch, and I’m wondering if anyone else has dealt with this.

At random times during a match, sometimes right after I respawn, sometimes just randomly, one of my abilities will stop working. For example, when I play Sinclair and press 3 to place her bunny, the UI at the bottom shows that I’m pressing the key, but the ability itself doesn’t trigger. Usually, the targeting circle pops up when you’re about to place the bunny, but in this case, nothing shows, and the ability won’t go off at all.

The only “fix” I’ve found so far is to exit the match and rejoin. That works temporarily, but the same issue happens again later in the game. Obviously, constantly leaving and rejoining is risky and ruins the flow of the game.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a known fix or workaround besides leaving and rejoining?

Thanks in advance. I hope this gets addressed, because it makes matches challenging to play when it happens.

I am having this exact same bug - it's always after I respawn and it's always a single one of my abilities (so far ive seen it mostly on 1 2 and 3)
same issue in every way
you can see the button depress on the UI but no activation
I have my binds between mouse buttons and keyboard buttons and both types can get this issue
it happens on all heroes so far

the only fix I have found is the same: exiting and re-entering the match.
I'm glad I'm not the only one because it's actually game-breaking - finding out in the middle of a fight that your big ability is just non-functional ect

I will add, only because it might help the devs troubleshoot and track down the bug:
There was one instance where my claw attack as calico was no longer working, and I was spamming it trying to get it to work before realizing what was happening. then like 6 seconds later in the fight I pressed my ultimate button and instead the claw attack ability triggered once. after that the claw attack ability stopped functioning like before.

I am running bootcamp (windows 10 on an imac) which can always create weird problems I find - are you also running bootcamp?

Oh one last detail that might help them track it down. If the bug happens and I exit/enter and its fixed - then it comes back - it can be on a new/different ability in the same match. hope that helps

Just had this happen again - again with the Malice ability on Lady Geist

happening to me in every game. it chooses a random ability to be unusable. a few times its been my ult

just got this bug again this last game - it was a local bot match so I couldn't leave and rejoin to fix

It only would happen in my Seven games for my 3 ability until tonight... then it started with my Lash 3. This is a game breaking bug that makes me hesitant to queue again. I have Match ID: 39849864 as an example of my Lash 3 button becoming unusable. You'll see me switch the binding early on in the match, and it still won't work.

I have close to 1k hours played, and I've never had such a disruptive issue until this.

Im having this bug every match on geist, seems to be when i respawn. Always either 1-2-3 they are rebound mostly to mouse buttons but my bomb is on 1 and that stops working aswell. Have no fixes found yet other then rejoining.
