In a nutshell the target which is point blank (because of a door), does not synergise with items that do not work at a long distance ? I guess it could be seen as a bug ? I believe that various on-hit effects do not work at long distance for game balance reasons, but, weapon damage works fine...

I can only add that the damage summary often is just useless to gauge what happened. Especially when you try to tank and get instantly blown up. I'd rather simply see a chronological histogramm of the things that damaged me, like rewinding a movie, with numbers on it.
