Research Journal – Private Notes of the Principal Investigator
First Entry
Today I received formal authorization to begin my research into what the committee insists on calling “anomalous phenomena.” I, however, believe the subject to be something far more profound — perhaps something that lies just beyond the fragile boundaries of our current understanding of reality.
My intention is to approach these matters with strict scientific discipline, for if such phenomena truly exist, they must obey some deeper structure of law and order not yet revealed to mankind.
Still, I cannot deny a certain feeling that lingers beneath my excitement — the subtle intuition that I may be standing at the threshold of knowledge that humanity has, until now, wisely avoided.
Fourth Entry
My attempts at interplanar communication continue to yield no response. If anything listens beyond the veil, it has chosen silence.
However, another line of experimentation has produced curious results. One of the crystalline samples provided to the laboratory appears to possess unusual energetic properties.
By focusing the crystal’s resonance upon a damaged botanical specimen, I observed an accelerated regeneration of its tissues. The plant recovered in a matter of minutes rather than days.
Though modest, the result is deeply intriguing. I cannot help but suspect that these crystals are fragments of something far older than the strata from which they were recovered.
Fiftieth Entry
Communication with other dimensions remains elusive. No signal has yet returned from the void into which I have so carefully transmitted my inquiries.
Yet progress continues elsewhere.
My experiments with dimensional extension have produced a measurable distortion in local temporal flow. During a controlled trial, I succeeded in slowing the velocity of a projectile fired from a Lee-Enfield rifle. The deceleration was substantial enough to be recorded and verified.
My sponsors appear pleased — though their satisfaction feels strangely hollow. Their curiosity is not directed toward the mysteries themselves, but toward the power such discoveries may yield.
Ninetieth Entry
Their demands grow ever more insatiable.
Every discovery I present is met not with wonder, but with impatience. They ask only what greater miracle I can deliver next.
Years of work, countless sleepless nights, and yet they speak as though knowledge itself were a commodity to be purchased and discarded.
Today I was given an ultimatum. At the next assembly I must present something truly unprecedented — or the entire project will be terminated.
The thought of losing access to the laboratory, to the instruments, to the threshold I have nearly crossed…
No.
If the conventional methods fail, then I must look elsewhere.
There are doors that science hesitates to open. I believe it is time I attempt one of them.
Ninety-Fifth Entry
Success.
Or something disturbingly close to it.
Tonight, during an adjusted resonance cycle within the communication array, something answered.
The presence that emerged was not easily described. It did not speak in words as we understand them, yet I perceived meaning — vast, complex, and ancient.
It conveyed ideas that seemed older than language itself.
At one point the entity requested permission to briefly inhabit my physical form in order to demonstrate certain corrections to my devices. Against my better judgment… I consented.
The sensation was profoundly unsettling. I remained conscious, yet distant, as though observing my own body from the far side of a glass pane.
When control returned to me, several instruments had been altered — including the light-based apparatus I constructed during the early phase of my research.
According to the entity’s guidance, the device’s frequency can be adjusted not only to accelerate biological healing, but also to destabilize matter at a structural level.
The implications are staggering.
And yet… I cannot escape the feeling that I have invited something into my work that I do not fully understand.
One Hundred Thirty-Fifth Entry
I now see clearly what I refused to acknowledge before.
The sponsors, the committees, the institutions — they were never necessary.
In the time since the entity began assisting me, our progress has surpassed everything achieved in the preceding years. Concepts unfold before my mind with unnatural clarity, as though guided by an intelligence that perceives reality from a far higher vantage.
It has asked for very little in return.
The artificial vessel I constructed for it, it says, is adequate but limited. A temporary accommodation at best.
What it requires, it explained, is a form more… celestial.
A vessel capable of containing the full expression of its nature.
Such a body, it suggests, might only be obtained from a being of far greater essence than any ordinary lifeform.
It has asked me to assist in this endeavor.
And truthfully, I find myself willing.
After all, it has given me far more than those who claimed to be my patrons. Knowledge. Vision. Possibility.
Together, with my intellect and its immeasurable power, there is little that could stand in our way.
At long last, the future no longer appears limited by the small ambitions of mankind.
Something far greater awaits just beyond the threshold.
