So "occult" is not only paranormal or weird magic. Mysticism and religious orders have been involved in the past. As such, having a secret religious order come from the events that triggered from Central Park and the new world is not outside the realms of possibility: a stronger connection to the spirits allowed a stronger connection to a religious "higher being" that we see through "angels" and affect the world and work with monks and nuns (in quotes aesthetics are up for interpretation; but 'biblically accurate' might fit). Now as much as I like a nun running around gunning everyone down, I got this idea a lot from the Boondock Saints.
Background (atm): As the realms between spirits and this world are closer than ever, the connections of faith have grown in strength too. The previous religious orders around the world have taken careful consideration and steps to control this new reality. They may keep to the word of their books, but may use the this newfound power for their protection. New religious orders sprout, using the power of spirits and "angels" to provide now a smaller fraction of boons and curses that they thought was only capable millenia ago. [Character] is part of a secret order under the Papacy to protect the Church and hunt those that mean it harm, or even threats to the world. He has orders to hunt those that expand what they perceive as demonic wrath, but one particular target he has orders to get: a number (or something more thoughtful to involve Seven)
Gimmick: heal, buff, curse. But to make sure that the character won't be picked off in lanes and group fights, they can choose to help in an weaker AoE or a stronger individual target, including themselves. Sort of like "F--k/help you all, or f--k/help you in particular." They would be mid-range, so a revolver magnum?
Also the name. I can only think of a Polish priest/bishop named Grzegorzi and it is totally not a reference to past works at all >.> and yes I know the actual common name is Grzegorz.
What's y'alls thoughts? Too much? Cool idea? Obviously early ideas, but wanted to expand the idea of the occult.
