Bonus is when you get an upgrade of an object you already have. here superior cooldown. But transcendant seems to give you an item both for superior cooldown and compress cooldown under certain circumstances. It happened to me multiple times and sometimes it just give one item as usual.
I could guess it happens when I get the whole path in one game (Compress > Superior > transcendant) but i'm not 100% sure
