Sinclair Vexing Bolt Phases Through NPC's Now

As per the title, Vexing Bolt is extremely bugged right now.

It will phase through all NPC's (troopers, neutral camps, guardians, walkers, shrines, patron, midboss, and McGinnis turrets) and the only way for you to damage them is via the AOE splash.

This is a serious bug and makes the hero near unplayable.

Vexing Bolt only snapping to heroes is not the same as Vexing Bolt phasing through every NPC on the map.

The former refers to the redirection system where, prior to the patch, bolts would randomly lock onto objectives and neutral camps through walls when you were trying to hit players in certain spots. The latter defies physics in this game.

It is currently near impossible to deal damage to the Patron using bolts with this being the case.

It is very clearly a bug and not an intentional change.
 
Yes I think is bug too, because now in theory if you just throw the q without redirect, it will not do any dmg to anything what so ever, it will phase through its target, that is the issue.
 
Alright, I played some games and I'm not gonna lie, this is kinda a buff since people can't just hide behind towers or under walker anymore since the bolts just go through them.

It's definitely unintentional regardless though because you just can't damage the 1st stage patron with bolts which could be a game-losing interaction in certain scenarios. Hopefully it will be fixed as soon as possible.
 
This should be fixed, and the snapping just doesnt work half of the time anyways, they should just rework how the snap on works, maybe make it work like wraiths cards

The snapping does work on players consistently. If you aren't able to land it then you need more practice.
 
Today they silently patched it so bolt snaps to NPCs again, which... means they brought back this stupid bug where the bolt snaps to a Shrine way off in the background (this is a fresh clip from a few minutes ago).

I'm currently doing testing. They didn't actually revert it back to how it was before and it's bugged in a different way now.

I'm going to make a new thread after my testing is done.
 
The snapping does work on players consistently. If you aren't able to land it then you need more practice.
sometimes i literally aim at heros, be it behind or not behind walls, and the vexing bolt just flies behind them somehwere, while other times it homes in perfectly, pretty sure its not my issue

If it isn't redirecting onto an objective like a shrine or a neutral camp through walls, then it won't randomly fly behind them unless you missed.

I also made an updated post since they changed how Vexing Bolt lock-on works again (they reverted the changes from the patch basically), which you can find here.
 
How is the ability targeting working now with the latest client update?

Hello Yoshi, I see that were some changes made just now, but there are big big issues.

Observed changes:

- Bolts do not target NPC's on redirect anymore
- Redirect indicator on heroes was added back but does not show through walls this time (good)

As mentioned, there are many issues though.

First off, please see the updated bug report I made here. Bolts are still phasing through guardians/walkers as they were before this client update. The same principles still apply on that end.

It's nice that bolts are not targeting objectives/camps through walls anymore and I see that they also don't target troopers as well (so basically all NPC's). This is mostly fine, however, it is near impossible to hit the first stage Patron while it is flying in the air with the redirect. This isn't a huge issue, but it is a bit awkward if you are trying to hit the Patron with a max damage Vexing Bolt.

The BIGGEST issue, though, is that now you cannot redirect onto players when you do not have line of sight. This has been completely broken with this update and needs to be fixed as soon as possible.

How is the ability targeting working now with the latest client update?
It goes through objectives sometimes after it has locked on . The problem of seeing people through wall seems to still be there but only when they're slightly around a corner and also when they're through a veil. You can't get the lock on to work while peeking around a corner.

Also worth noting that right now, the way line of sight works on Sinclair is based on his model's line of sight, rather than your own actual vision (what's on your screen).

It's pretty weird for it to work that way and doesn't make much sense.
